Nice paint
I used this stiff to paint the ‘hello 1960’s’ wall tiles on my bathroom. Underneath I primed with Stix primer which seems to really adhere to the tiles. Once it was dry I could not scratch it off with a fingernail so I assume it is a good base for this paint. Originally, I had issues with cratering when applying this paint and I was a bit hesitant to use it. But when I put on the first coat on a warm/hot, muggy day, no issues with a foam roller. One coat was not sufficient, although some folks might find it acceptable. For coat no. 2 I first scuffed the overnight dry paint with 320 paper, just enough to remove any lumps, bumps etc. Then I used a Mohair roller cover. Being bigger(regular diameter but 4” wide) it held a lot more paint and worked great. At first it took a few strokes to saturate the cover and there were tons of bubbles, but they all went away. This paint job had 80deg humid weather which I think was a plus. Slowed the drying process and allowed the paint to level nicely. Not glass like which might be attainable, but a very subtle texture which looks like its the way the tiles were made. And it is high gloss. We’ll see how it holds up over time but it looks great and a heck of a lot cheaper than a tile job. One caution. The stuff got old school VOC big time. I would not use it when you might have to keep a house closed up. I was thinking of spraying but I figured the masking, need for a respirator etc was not worth the effort. Overall, nice paint. It seems durable and we’ll see how ot works in a bathroom. I also painted the ceramic towel bar fixtures. They look like white smooth ceramic which I think was the result of brushing. To cut in edges I used the throw away chip brushes which worked fine. Not worth trying to clean an expensive brush with this paint

WOW - New Tub/Shower!!
WOW, amazing stuff!! My 30 year old tub/shower looks brand new. My bathroom was long overdue for a huge face-lift and I was dreading the task of updating the tub/shower insert. This product worked magic, I am highly impressed & would definitely recommend!! It was easy to apply, covers beautifully with self-leveling & the end product looks phenomenal. Better than I imagined. If you have the time & patience, do it. Ensure your tub and/or shower is bone dry. Allow yourself ample drying time between coats and at least 3 days of cure time for the finished result. The odor is strong, wear a mask & have good ventilation.

Nice product but it takes a few coats
I like it. Excellent abrasion resistance and adhesion. I got a quart of red for and old threadbare 14' solo fiberglass canoe. I usually use petit easypoxy...this is different. Easypoxy covers better but this seems to have better abrasion resistance and it is cheaper. I started by scrubbing the canoe with the normal purple concentrated cleaner (from any autoparts or hardware store) and water. I used acetone where the registration numbers were in case they still had the original mold release in the gel coat. I added in a few kevlar skid plates with pc-7 epoxy and feathered them in. I scuffed the whole canoe hard and tacked it. I then proceeded to roll this product on foregoing the cleaner and primer that they recommended. It was a low budget job and I was covering a red gelcoat with red, so I didn't want to see primer through any future scratches. It goes on thin, don't cut edges ahead or you'll see the lap. Don't do it in sunlight or the roller will pull strings. And don't roll over areas you just completed if you see a translucent area because it will run and sag. Let it dry as they say (think it says 24hours) and scuff it down and tack it again. This is when you realize how abrasion resistant it is...it takes a lot to scuff it. I did three coats if I recall...it was 6 months ago. Had I known I would have just coated where my skid plates and patches were because they were the only areas that stood out as a different color after the second coat. I used ithe canoe quite a bit and still launched it wet because it is only paint, but I beached it a number of times and shot a handful of old beaverdams with only superficial scratches. I did dig one spot when I slid it too close to a sharp metal edge, but I rolled a strip of fresh paint over it and it blended well. It does smell so moving it outside to off-gas is a must. I'll update if it fades badly from uv but so far it's still brilliant.

It's good paint but consistency varied between suppliers...
This paint is not that finicky: It's just that all the other variables involved in painting with oil are that finicky. I opted for this instead of epoxy because of overall project-related costs. I generally dislike oil-based paint because of the fuss in applying multiple coats. Rust-Oleum 206999 Marine Topside Paint has good coverage & elasticity, (however when I chose to order more paint I found batches from certain suppliers were noticeably thinner, to where painting vertical surfaces became problematic). And I did hate the corresponding 'chalky' Topside primer & preferred cheaper, higher quality Zinsser. Bottom Line - Despite the torturous heat in which I applied this alkyd enamel & interim snafus, this is a well-perfected paint (from the creamier cans). I just pressure washed it after 3 weeks & it looks & cured great & is doing well in the damp coastal coolness where every night the dew rises to water the ground & substitutes for rain. --Happy camper in the land of boats, here, sporting 1 coat of primer & 5 coats of this paint atop. PS: Unless you're a pro, aim for 3 coats at most, sans primer, and that will keep a tight ship if you did your homework: fiberglass, degreasing & sanding. Or pay the price for epoxy; but this oil-based alkyd enamel which is a true 'oil' paint does not dry or catalyze: It cures. If done patiently, we will probably appreciate this beautiful, natural finish for a long time. (The one-star lacking is due to those 'thinners' out there who need to 'repaint' --Old joke with a serious quality case in point. It's good paint but consistency varied between suppliers to the point where you could not foam roller paint a previously 24 hour dried vertical fiberglass surface with paint straight from later ordered cans without viewing some drip formations after painting. C'mon! God forbid if I had added Penetrol to that, let alone thinner, so with those it was not an option. The creamy consistency cans (ordered through Home Depot) took up to 20% Penetrol fine & did both flat & vertical work without drip. But later cans did not. I'd previously read this complaint by another blogger somewhere & did not believe it until experiencing it for myself in orders I received late in the project. l ordered paints through Grainger, Home Depot, Jamestown & Amazon. Get the good stuff which is excellent or send it back.)

Excellent Paint!
I used this paint to put a protective layer in the engine bay of my boat. We just rebuilt a bunch of the interior and the old paint wasn't the easiest to clean and looked worn out. I think it turned out great! The white is very very white, it will reflect in the sun, I also painted the cubbies in the boat. I did use 2 coats of the paint on each piece. The paint is pretty thick and seems to have some self leveling factor which is great avoiding brush marks. The paint is dry to the touch in 4 hours but any thicker parts will take longer. I used one quart on the engine bay and I ordered another to do any trim pieces and the cubbies. I have about half a quart left over. This stuff smells strong, I would recommend a mask for the vapors. It's also very hard to clean off skin and brushes so gloves are a must. We ended up using gas to clean the brushes and that worked perfectly.

Great Paint
I recently used Rust-Oleum Marine Topside Paint in Navy Blue, and I am thoroughly impressed. Quality and Finish The paint quality is exceptional. It provides a smooth, glossy finish that looks professional and high-end. The navy blue color is rich and vibrant, giving a sleek and polished appearance to the surface. Application Applying the paint was straightforward and hassle-free. It goes on evenly and dries relatively quickly, allowing for a seamless painting process. The consistency is perfect, neither too thick nor too thin, making it easy to work with. Durability This paint is designed for marine environments, and it shows. It holds up well against the elements, providing excellent resistance to water, UV rays, and general wear and tear. We used this for our trailer and it looks fantastic. Overall Experience Overall, Rust-Oleum Marine Topside Paint in Navy Blue is a great product. It offers excellent quality, easy application, and impressive durability. Highly recommended.

For marine topside paint you can't really beat the price.
Nice glossy white. Covers well on already white or light colored metal. I painted a old jetski trailer that i converted to a fishing kayak trailer and it turned out great looking. Sand and prime and light sand again then use a tack cloth to remove and paint dust/debris before you actually go to paint and it should turn out great for you.
