I especially like how when your close the cover all the way it turns the light off instead of having a separate switch. I also really like how the carry handles fold down and fit onto the side snugly, keeping the cover from popping up, thus no accidental powering up the light.It's a plastic housing that seems like it'll stand up to some abuse but I don't plan on testing out its sturdiness since it seems line a rigid plastic with little to no flex.The light is very bright and evenly brilliant, which is going to be nice when camping . I've tested it in a totally dark large room for shadows and other lighting flaws before camping season begins (if winter ever ends here in Virginia ) and slid the cover up and down to bring up or down the amount of light filling the room. Since I got 2 in the package I can see this being used on both ends of a picnic table at night for playing cards and stuff to make things a little more fun/safe vs my old propane camp lanterns.I would have felt I got a good deal with just 1 light at the price I paid but getting a second one at no extra cost (plus included batteries) makes it a much better value for me and my family will enjoy them as well because of not only the excellent light but the features I mentioned in the first paragraph.

Inexpensive yet decent quality. You can't even make a similar unit for $5 bucks half this good even if you are handy.....I know.... I made a few already. The people who rated this a 1 star probably got a bad unit, so just get a replacement, shhhhhh. Both of mine came in good order and batteries included. Put the batteries in and wham, I have lights. I can skip a burger for one day, and have this unit at my disposal during power outage, working on my truck late evening, night fishing on my boat, or use for camping. Even if it lasts one season, it's worth the $5 for each unit, and save me from consuming 700 calories of burger, what a great deal. Anyway, this is not a big decision to make folks. If you even looked at this product more than once like I did, contemplating to buy or not to buy, just buy it. You won't waste time thinking about it, and you'll be glad you did. The worst case, you'll be down two burgers (combo deal) and best case, your nights will be brighter.

This review is after one use, may update later. 350 lumen is pretty bright so if you are using it to light up an area it may be intense if it is in your field of vision. We had to put a grocery produce bag over it to dampen it.

I ordered two sets of these for an upcoming camping trip. I have not used them in the wild yet but I have used them around the house. They work great. They light up and are very bright. One package was missing the free batteries, but for the price, I paid $10.99 for a set of 2 with batteries, I can afford to purchase the missing batteries. The top of the lantern unscrews and can hold extra batteries or other small things. The handles fold down into a groove and keep the lantern from accidentally turning on. Overall they feel like a sturdy product that should last a long time with relatively careful use. If you hit it with a car it will break. If you throw it down it will break. If you drop it a couple of feet it will still work. I accidentally knocked mine off a grill side shelf onto my deck and it is no worse for the wear. Overall a good product at a great price. I would give it 4.75 stars for the missing batteries but it deserves 5.

Out of the package, I liked the look of the lanterns, and they seemed sturdy, but light. I received batteries with the lanterns (a selling point, by the way) and placed them in the bottom of each unit. I did have a little trouble aligning the bottom cap with the lantern, but after a few minutes, I got the hang of it, and I had no problem with the second lantern.The light was, indeed, super bright! It was brighter than what I was expecting. I tested one lantern out in a dark room with my young boys - they loved how bright it was! I am glad I have two lanterns, but I think one would be enough to light up my 12-person tent. My immediate reaction is that these lanterns are a great value for what I paid for them, and I believe I made a great purchase. I am excited to try them out in the field in May. :)

I am very happy with these portable LED lights. They are extremely bright but I like that you can control the light output by sliding the LED bars down into the base. For the price, these cannot be beat. I ordered them during a power outage and they arrived before we got power back on so we used them immediately and a lot (power was out for 5 days). I am extremely happy about this purchase and plan to purchase some more. At this price, I will put them all over the house so they are available everywhere in the event of another power outage. These also come with the batteries. These are the newer style LED that has a more even and less harsh light output. Look no further, buy these. ( I received no benefit from writing this review, these are just that good).
