Peak Sherpa Traditional Tsampa Cereal, Pack of Six 10 Ounce Pouches, Ready to Eat, Certified Organic, Sprouted & Roasted Whole Grain Barley Cereal

I bought this product as part of my emergency response preparation here in California. When the power goes out so does my electric stove. This product is a high energy food that can be eaten without cooking by just adding water. The Roman gladiators were Barley Men. Since barley is a whole grain it is health food AND fast food. I eat it several times a week.

This is not tsampa. Tsampa is ground to a flour. I had to grind it myself. Label this as crushed barley cereal. Very misleading. And don't try that "different cultures call it blah blah blah". There isn't a Tibetan, Lhadaki, Nepali, or Sherpa I know (which is many) that would call this tsampa. Only white people making a buck with a ton of misunderstanding. Shameful.

I was looking for an alternative to oatmeal and decided to try this barley cereal. I would have given it a 5 except for one thing - it tastes rancid. This makes it almost impossible to eat for me. Either rancid oil was used in preparation or this sat in storage for a long time. Either way it costs too much to taste like this. I bought four different flavors and started with this plain one. Maybe the others will be better.

This is amazing for meals and snacks! It fules endurance sports and daily activities. Pluse you can add any flavors you like...I use maple syrup or fruit.

Great way to start the day when you want to hike in the AM, with no need to refuel until the PM.

Very rare Aktivated Barley Organic hot cereal, worth the purchase.
