Ability To Enter Service Mode - Record Service Records Tied to VIN/Plate #
I purchased this to be able to complete brake services for the rear brakes on modern Honda vehicles with an electric parking brake. Specifically the Honda Civic Type R FK8. Not all maintenance scan tools are compatible with the FK8 and after some back and forth with Autel they were able to confirm the MX808S and the MX900 would work for the vehicle. After looking at the feature sets of both units, I determined that the additional functionality of the MX900 would be beneficial in the future as our automotive tastes ebb and flow. This allows for connection to Volkswagen Group Cars and AutoAuth as well as some exotic makes (and while I don't have one, it is nice to know the functionality is there). The MX900 worked perfectly for what I initially bought it for, which was to swap the brakes on the FK8. The price of this tool was less than having a Honda dealer complete the work with parts and labor so represents a good value for anyone with a similar need. As you can see in the photos I was able to connect to the car, initiate brake service mode, complete the brake service and move the car back into normal mode. This is great as it ensures no damage to the servo motors of the e-brake and no codes were thrown once I moved it back to normal mode.Great device with a nice 8" screen, easy to see and operate. Would highly recommend. Also comes with a really nice case that houses the unit, the charge block and cable and the OBDII connector cable. Has additional space for optional accessories as well, like the camera kit.

Huge upgrade from my Autel MD908!
Had some trouble codes on our 2022 Porsche Cayenne and the MX900 was able to read all codes and provide a pdf printout that I was able to provide to my service advisor. Software updates are done via wifi and the touchscreen is quick and responsive. I also confirmed that I can retract the parking brake on our 2017 Audi Q7. This device is great for the DIY guy like myself or a small repair shop. Easy to navigate the menus with the android style interface.

Works Great, does need a subscription after 2 years for updates.
Works perfectly, first thing to do is hook it up to your internet and get the updates for both the device software and any vehicle updates you would like. One thing I did not realize is that this device comes with 2 years of updates, after that you have to pay $150yr to continue getting updates, so 3 years from now if I'm scanning a new vehicle and want to be certain I have the latest software, I'll need to pay up. The scanner itself is built extremely well, this is an Android tablet within a very durable permanent case. I am not a professional mechanic but this most certainly feels like a professional tool in every way.

Problem reading battery 0%
Problem reading the battery, and don’t let me update to the new software. Because I need the battery more of 30% charge.

The Autel scanner is very easy and user friendly
I love how easy the scanner is to use with the auto vin feature it looks your car right up and I was able to clear my trouble codes . I was also able to do a critical cam crank relearn on my dodge and it gives you full instruction to complete task. Live data was a plus I was able to see the sensor that wasn't reading. Overall I'll give this a 10 I've searched other scanners but this one is the keeper!!

2012 Grand Cherokee Overland air suspension
Was able to get the air suspension module out of "in plant" mode and back to working normal. I did recharge the tank with argon - which I used instead of nitrogen that it called for. I already had argon. Argon is more expensive, but is an inert gas just like nitrogen. The valve that connects to the tank is the same as a low side R134a freon valve. I already had a 200 psi regulator and gauge for the argon tank. The charging pressure is 175 psi for the 2012. I don't know if other years has the same spec. I would imagine they use nitrogen because of the cost, and it does what they want it to do. The system will take in atmospheric air at times if there are minor leaks, so to be a staunch pure nitrogen advocate is a little silly in my opinion. Not sure if it would have reset without recharging or not, but my older OTC scanner was worthless as far as this vehicles air suspension system goes. Haven't used it for anything else. I'm a professional mechanic with 47 years experience.

Excellent solution for DIY maintenance and repairs
I’m an enthusiastic DIYer. I also believe in quality OEM parts. I always buy the manufacturer parts from the sources via the web or at the dealer.I bought this to save money and keep the cost in check from the dealership. It’s a very capable tool to empower me to do basic repairs and services that would otherwise require dealership visits.I recommend this to anyone wanting to do something similar.Autel is reputable brand with a good reputation in the field.
