Hand Lettering: Creative Alphabets for Any Occasion

There is plenty of info about lettering that you've probably seen in other books unless this is your first one. But that info is presented well here: easy to understand, attractively presented. The reason I bought this book, though is the directory of alphabets: lost and lots of lettering styles to copy or to riff off of.

This book is part instructional and part history. There are 50 different fonts to learn with instructions and practice space for each. It is also interesting to learn about the history of different typefaces. It's a great resource for trying your hand at different fonts. Perfect size to tuck into a bag and work through as you find the time.

This is a great book! I love the inspiration on the layouts, and the selection of fonts is pretty good, though some are so ornate and unusual there isn't much practical use for them. It's inspired me to do a lot more hand lettering, though, and that's what I wanted! I wish there was more instruction on brush lettering instead of 'faking' the brush lettering look but it's nice to know how to fake it, too. I have used the 'fake' technique with my gel pens and it's gorgeous!

As an ultimate beginner, I confess I found this book a little intimidating. Perhaps because the very first section is an epic gallery of way-out-of-my-league lettering works. And while it does give instructions and supplies, I still felt like I was barely treading water to keep up. The real highlight for me was the collection of alphabets. I ended up tracing my favorites as practice. I wouldn't recommend this book for someone just starting out on the hand-lettering journey, but definitely a worthy resource for someone with a basic foundation of the art.

This book has many wonderful, creative fonts and ways to incorporate them. Easy to follow to make unique creations on your own!

Bought for a teacher friend that loves to make their own posters and projects. She loves it! And the ideas and directions are a great tool.

Very nice directory of fonts to use as a guide for hand-lettering along with creative fonts and inspiration from different artists.

It is a gift for my adult daughter who loves making hand made cards for her friends and wanted some new ideas. It is a visually stunning book and full of experience and wisdom of the author/ artist…but also a very accessible, inspirational and arty book, packed with fun and lovely lettering.

de pages "vides" -en fait d'exercices à l'entraînement de traçages de lettres- (on peut le faire nous-même sur des feuilles vierges) ; cette méthode de "remplissage" est commune à tous les livres sur le sujet dont les auteurs ne savent plus trop quoi ajouter… et également trop de présentations de polices de caractères ; dont certaines franchement décevantes… On peut trouver des milliers de polices sur le web. Inutile de consacrer la moitié d'un livre à ce genre d'exercice ! Quelques bons conseils et réalisations dans les premières pages, mais on reste vraiment sur sa faim si on envisage de se diriger vers du lettering professionnel.

this book totally meets my expectation. this book gave a lot of ideas to me to take my calligraphy to the next level. truly recommended to all calligrapher. plz launch its next edition I will be truly waiting for it.😊
