Love This World
I love the world that Glynn Stewart has created here and in previous books. Simply adore it. It captures my mind, my imagination. So I came into this book expecting great things. And overall, I was a little disappointed. I think that Stewart grapples with some big issues, largely successfully, but was unsuccessful at creating characters as generally likeable as in the previous series (which, just so you are aware, you do not need to read to start this book). This was an honorable attempt to keep a successful and interesting universe alive, and I will read the next book, but it just didn't have the same heart as previous entries. I miss the Stellar Fox.

Yea! New series in the Castle Federation universe
I did not get an ARC copy of the book, just look forward to Glynn Stewart's work and read pretty soon a as they are released. We met Admiral James Tecumseh in the previous series at the end of the war and learned he was an honorable man. Now we see him and the Commonwealth as they deal with defeat and the changes brought on by loosing FTL communications. The plot is interesting and intriguing. The new characters are well drawn and real. This is a good book, really well done, and I look forward to the sequels

A great story
What a storyline, it did get interesting in this book as with the previous ones. I wasn't expecting the outcome for this book but it was a great story. I am definitely looking forward to the next book.

Good story
To be perfectly honest with you I really like how you wrote the story. I'll be honest I didn't need to read any of your other books in the world that you've created to actually know what was going on in the story. And the fact that you subtly explained it and then you left characters and names of people that I already knew were there and events that happened really made enjoying all of your books that much better. He did a really good job on this one.

what an interesting twist
This is different. After six books in the series, spoiler alert, we switch sides and the enemy now becomes the protagonist. Yes, we know him from before as an honorable man on the other side, but still the enemy for six books. Interesting, but it is also true that this book lives of the great stories of its predecessors, since 90% of this book can be summed up with : administrative and organizational problems for an Admiral after a big bang. Of course I will finish the series, having invested so much time already. 4 stars 7 books in is still pretty great.

Amzing next chapter
I loved the Castle Federation series and was very sad when it ended. That it came back is amazing. The new world Glynn has turned this series into is pure genius and entertainment! This was a quality of work and writing that has stunned me and has me very excited for what comes next. Glynn is very talented, but I think he has outdone himself with this book. Highly recommend! Reading the previous series will help understand the world rules, but it not nessessary to enjoy this book.

Another Fresh Story
I received an advance copy in return for an honest review! This is one of my favorite books of Glynn's in the past few years. We get to see another side to a (probably) familiar universe - because you've already read the Stellar Fox books, right??? If not, DEFINITELY read those, but you don't NEED to before you read this book, it stands on its own just fine.I wasn't ready to enjoy this book, because the Stellar Fox is second only to Damien Montgomery in terms of my favorite Glynn Stewart characters. How could I actually LIKE one of his adversaries? But if you expect Glynn to do anything in vanilla manner, you don't know Glynn. Even in subtle ways he manages to bring you to a different outcome than you expect. Even expecting twists, he surprises you!I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

A triumphant return to the Castle Federation Universe
I binged Admiral's Oath over a single day. The book was great on its own merits, with diverse characters facing ethical dilemmas against a backdrop of a detailed sci-fi future where humanity has spread out to the stars, but the Terran Commonwealth (centered on Earth of course) is intent on Manifest Destiny and is conquering the frontier colonies "for their own good".The main character was previously a supporting character (well, antagonist) in the earlier Castle Federation books, and Admiral's Oath picks up at the end of the previous series after the events of Operation Medusa destroyed the FTL communications of the Terran Commonwealth. This is vintage Glynn Stewart, and if you liked the earlier Castle Federation books (highly recommended) or his other works such as the Duchy of Terra or Scattered Stars series, you will enjoy this. And if you have already read the Castle Federation series, you'll probably end up re-reading it after Admiral's Oath if you are like me.

Lack of inspiration
I am a fan of Glynn Stewart, but this book feels like it is a rehash of several previous book with the same plot with characters with different names. Plus this doesn'nt bring anything really new to the table, why start a new serie for that ?

The Stellar Fox Universe continues...
A new novel delivered in the style and attention to detail I have long loved and come to expect of one of my favorite authors! We reconnect with some known friends from previous books of this series and continue to learn what future awaits the Terran Commonwealth as their choices come home to roost. This is the tale of a man whose ironclad morales and principles form the rock that fate manages to get him caught between so many hard places... Brilliant!

Great start
I bought this book originally purely due to it be written by Glynn Stewart. I have bought and enjoyed every book he has written and was very pleased when it turned out to be a continuation of the Castle Federation books. But from the other sides perspective. This book was as readable as all Mr Stewarts books and set up this next series brilliantly. Although you could read this without the need to read the 5 original confederacy books, you will enjoy it more if you do I believe. Some new characters and adding to some known ones and I look forward to the next book.
