Great gun safe
I bought this and the two gun vault version at the same time. So if you see a similar review on that one, its because I copied and pasted that review here since I have the same thing to say about both of them. The finger scanner is amazing. Usually my wife has issues with any fingerprint scanner not registering her prints, but since this scanner doesn't check your prints she doesn't have an issue at all. I bought this safe with that in mind, and it certainly didn't disappoint. After testing it out many times, it opens instantly or very close to it every single time, giving me very quick access to its contents. It seems to be very well made and easy to use. Last but certainly not least it comes with a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer, you just have to give them your order number to activate it.

Horrible. Do not buy.
I have had this safe for less than a year. It is a total waste of money. The first thing I noticed is the finger print scan only works about 10% of the time and you have to reprogram it about every two weeks. After too many failed finger print scans it goes it goes into a lock mode and just beeps. You can't use the programmed code at that point you have to use the key. So I tried using the key and it broke. The second key does not work any more either. So at this point if the batteries die I will have to cut the box open to get my pistol out. I contacted customer support and they were absolutely zero help. Do not buy this product it is completely worthless.

Much better than a drawer in a night stand...
I searched for several weeks for a pistol safe that was not the type that sits on a night stand, with a cable or inside a drawer, allows quick access, and secures a weapon from prying eyes and fingers. This one checked all the boxes as it has a key, a keypad, and Bio-scanner which as you can see, uses the veins in your finger which is unique to everyone. This does work, but. I purchased two of these pistol safes and both seem to have a issue with the memory. I programed multiple fingers into the units and the next day they both worked great, the following day, I tried multiple fingers in both units and they failed. I reeprogramed bot units again with similar results. Not an issue to open uning the keypad but the Bio-scanner was the selling point. When you remove one of the batterries from the holder it automatically clears the memory. I removed a battery from the holder of both safes (which is a little difficult once the unit is mounted) and reprogramed my fingers into the memory. They both worked great durring multiple tests for 3 days and then the memory didn't recognize one of my fingers, which I just re-programed into the safes memory. To be on the safe side, I test both unit each day. These pistol safes will also Alarm if the finger(s) are not recognize, the code must be entered via the keypad to silence. Don't get me wrong, I DO like these pistol safes because they present the weapon at the correct angle for quick withdrawal, and has a dim light inside, eliminating searching for the weapon in the dark. Please note that an intruder wanting to get the safe off, can easily pry it off with a long screwdriver, there are small wood screws included in the packaging. I highly recommend moving your weapon to a more secure gun safe for long term storage. 👍

MAXSafes Drop Down Vault is Awesome!
Though it did not pop up first online via Google, nor was it listed in any of the Best Reviews. I decided to purchase after I reviewed the manufacturer website and on YouTube. I was skeptical about the vein recognition, but decided to purchase since it was also sold by Amazon that are great for returns if needed. I got it today and installed it. First, the packaging was excellent the way the manufacturer boxes it for sale, it is protected and safe from carriers. The directions were easy and simple. I was able to set up the unit for vein recognition and code access in no time. Unit works as advertised and is priced cheaper than others that are similar. I love it. Would recommend to others. Wish the unit had room for an extra magazine, but it is not a killer. I will definitely purchase the under desk safe or the pistol safe next.

So far we like it.
I have this safe set up next to my bedside, it’s attached to my bedside table. I am happy to say that we have never been in an emergency situation that required opening it in that kind of atmosphere. I have just walked up and opened it for no reason to be sure that it is still working well, so far no problems. I like that it takes up to 50 fingers into memory. It is stable and heavy. I have a 380 and it doesn’t fit well in the foam as it is formed. I’m sure I could make some adjustments to make it fit, but I think I will just use it as an excuse to buy something else that will fit better in the foam instead. ;)

not reliable
1 st , The finger print vein recognition works if you use it everyday. If don't use it for at least 3 days it forgets your finger veins. Then you need to open it up by using the key pad, the vein recognition starts working right after you open it up. 2nd when you mount it its wobbly even using larger screws, only has 2 little hooks holding it with 1 tiny thumb screw on the inside. 3rd after its mounted you have the mounting slots on the other side where it looks like you can insert a paperclip in and press the learn button to open it up. I had cut a piece of metal and fastened it to the inside to prevent this.

Well built but major flaw. Not worth $190, vein reader is junk.
I took a chance on this after seeing a few positive videos on You tube, I do a lot of welding and beat up my hands pretty good so thought this would be better then a safe that reads finger print. The safe is fairly well made , strong = I'd give it 8 of 10. But , the vein recognition scanner part is complete junk. I have reset this a dozen times and next morning , it will not open, also very annoying that after 4 times trying a beeper go's off till a battery is taken out to reset it . Only because the company can't spend like 25 cents extra on enough wire so You can do this outside of the case. A few cents more would pay for enough power wire that You could pull it out and Easily work with the battery pack. If you buy this , you will quickly understand what I mean. So , nice safe , scanner is junk or I'm an alien and my veins change over night. Now I use number pad only. Good luck
