A few important notes on this cookbook from JJ VIRGIN
Hey there Rebecca,This is JJ - I couldn't find a way to reach you directly. I purchased this cookbook as it is based on my program & I wanted to confirm that it was on track as people won't know that I didn't have anything to do with it (btw, I would have been happy to have reviewed it and send it out to my tribe if you had contacted me as you were doing it!). A few things - I don't recommend vegetable cooking sprays as they are generally GMO, damaged fat and aerosol! You can use the Williams Sonoma spray container and then put whatever you want in there - I would recommend Malaysian Palm Fruit Oil or Vital Choice Macadamia Nut Oil. As far as sugars go - if you have seasonal allergies a little ie 1/2 tsp of raw organic local honey may help, but I recommend monkfruit, stevia, coconut palm sugar or xylitol from birch for cooking, not honey. I also don't recommend dried fruit or juice, esp. Pineapple juice as it is even higher in sugar.I am glad you have had such great results on the plan and you have created some fabulous recipes! I hope you will join our cooking & testimonial contest at thevirgindiet.com/cookbookcontest - I think there is still a week left. ANyone who sends a complete entry gets a copy of The Virgin Diet cookbook pubbing Feb 18 and the 7 winnners will get a free trip to come cook with me!ALso please make sure if you are using this cookbook wait on the worcestershire sauce til Cycle 3 as has soy in it, and then ensure that it is gluten free. DItto there was a recipe with greek yogurt that didn't tell you to wait til Cycle 3 and only use if not intolerant to dairy.Best,JJ Virgin

So far so good
Full disclosure: I've only made one recipe so far. However, I figured the fact that I was moved enough to review after one meal was a pretty good sign...I'm not on the Virgin Diet, but am on a medical diet that shares a number of similarities. My biggest frustration with it has been that I have had to choose between either thinking constantly about what I'm going to eat or eating the obvious, routine things over and over--neither promotes a healthy, joyful relationship with food. I need a better repertoire of permitted, delicious foods.Ms. Lorraine's cajun beans are one of the most delicious things I've eaten in a while, and most of her other recipes appear, like that dish, to be easily sourced from what I keep around anyway and easily prepared. I bought this with low expectations, but now I have high hopes for trying a number of other items. Thanks!

I did not like this book.
I have been on the JJ Virgin Diet for 6 weeks and just wanted some new recipes. This book had great review, so I purchased it. However, there were only 4 recipes in the whole book that I wanted to try. Most of them are oriental like recipes, which I do not like. And some were too difficult or used strange ingredients. By the way, I love to cook. Today I tried one of the four recipes and while it was okay, it was not worth the work. Sorry to give such a bad review, but I must to honest, I did not like this book, I wasted my money.

Good Recipes for Some, But Not for All
Although the recipes in this book will be great for a lot of people, the majority of them were not recipes I would use in my kitchen. Ms. Lorraine's book "My Virgin Diet Cookbook" is exactly that -- her version of JJ's diet through her recipes. I would suggest reviewing a copy of this book from the library first to ensure that the recipes included will be likeable by you. I loved the recipes in JJ's book "The Virgin Diet" and am eagerly looking forward to the publication of her new cookbook in February 2014.

Great book for average cooks with food sensitivities
These are straight forward, easy recipes with well-written directions. Anyone with basic cooking skills could handle these recipes. Most of the ingredients are easy to find with a few exceptions like Macadamia nut oil. I am sensitive to soy, dairy and eggs so I was thrilled to finally find a cookbook that avoids all three. A few of the recipes contain dairy or soy but they are clearly noted. I have only cooked one recipe but it turned out well and my husband enjoyed it. I am looking forward to trying some more.

My Body is Very Happy
Having gone through the 2 cycles of the Virgin Diet I found that I had lost 22 pounds! The diet cookbook is loaded with recipes that I, as an 84 year old widower can handle with little strain. I tagged each page with different colored "stick ums" showing where the snack section was, as well as the desert section, main course and appetizer sections. Great book full of good, healthy recipes that are fairly easy to put together and enjoy. You'll love it!!

My Virgin Diet CookBook:: The Gluten-Free, Soy-Free, Egg-Free, Dairy-Free,...
To tell you the truth, I haven't used this cook book that much since I bought it. I tried a couple of recipes and I was notimpressed with them. The book has lots and lots of recipes with nice pictures in it, and good quality paper. However, asI mentioned before, I haven't have the chance to use it that much and this is the reason why I cannot give it an honest 5 stars rating. If I get to cook more in the near future, I'll certainly update my findings.

LOVE IT
This book is great! I love that I can open this book, plan a weeks worth of meals following the virgin diet plan, and not have to guess if I'm planning correctly! This lady has done all the homework already! My family has embarked on this virgin diet journey and we've planned over 90% of our meals for Cycle I from this book......the meals are fantastic! And the variety is astonishing......not eating the same thing over and over.
