Too small for 8"
The clamps are well made but 8" is stretching it. This is the absolute limit of these clamps requiring you to completely disengage the clamp from the screw to slip it on. Should be more like 6-7" clamp

worked well in outside application
Used rings on 6 inch diameter fence post to hold mesh wire deer fence. Very strong and versatile And corrosion-resistant.
