I’m not sure I don’t have polka dots on mine but I do like my can for succulents!

Q: Why does the seller recommend not leaving water inside of it?

Probably so it won't get corroded. That being said, I leave water in both of mine all the time, and haven't had any issues.

Q: Can I leave water in it between watering

I purchased this as a gift so from usage I can not answer. From experience I would not recommend doing that in a metal can.
