For a soft sided pet carrier, this one is very well-constructed. The zippers are smooth & easy to pull. It can also be easily folded flat when not in use. The top and sides maintain it's shaped very well from folded to erected position. The base board on the bottom is very sturdy & does not sag at all which provide a solid flat foundation for any pets. Pets can see out the sides which are nice. Less intimidating than the feeling of being put in a dark crate.The soft fleece liner on the bottom is a nice touch. It is removable, being held in by velcro to prevent slipping around, so it can be machine washed. There are carrying handles on the top, and also an adjustable shoulder strap with foam padding so the bag can be carried like a duffle or gym bag. I find when you have a pet in it, it works better to use the carrying handles as it helps the carrier hold it's shaped and not fold in on your pet. Also notice that the carrying handles are also padded as well, which makes carrying your pets much more comfortable.This carrier is very nice overall. It has a front opening and a top opening which makes it very handy to get my pets out. Inside there is a hook so pets can be secured inside so that when you open doors, they can't just run out until you release him. The leash inside the pet carrier also has the right length, not too short where a pet might get choked, not to long that pets can get tangled. If you do not need to use the leash inside the pet carrier, you can just tuck it underneath the fleece bed.Initially, I thought the supplied shoulder strap was way too short. But quickly realized it is adjustable, so It works out in the end. But, in case if I ever lose the shoulder strap, I can always use one from an old gym bag which I have tried with success.Very impressed with this carrier & I'm very pleased with this purchase.I gave it 5 stars because it is a good quality carrier and my pet likes being in it.Edit: I've had this carrier for a few weeks now, and would like to add a tip for cat owners. With my other cat, she tended to panic when I tried to put her in a carrier, and someone suggested that I'd try the following: Cats are naturally curious about boxes and containers, and I've noticed that whenever I leave a cardboard box on the floor, my cats will sooner or later climb into it and "claim" it. So I decided to leave this carrier open, and see what would happen. Sure enough; my cat Pancho discovered the new carrier after a few minutes of me leaving it open, and climbed into it. I let him do that a few times, and eventually closed the lid, which he didn't seem to mind. It's a great idea to let your cat get comfortable with the carrier before you actually have to use it. That way, the next trip to the vet will probably be a lot less stressful for both the cat owner and the cat! I enclosed a couple of pictures of my cat enjoying his new carrier. Hope this helps.

I purchased this carrier for a 2-day driving trip with my 16lbs cat. Initially, our cat was pretty stressed about getting into the carrier. We let our cat get accustomed to the carrier by placing some treats in it. The cats will go in and out a couple of times then slowly get used to resting inside comfortably before starting to close the pet carrier openings. She's now taken naps in it, so I guess she approves it now! The soft removable bottom piece makes this carrier similar to bedding rather than putting a towel, which slides around, in the hard plastic carriers which they hated.I really love the design of the carrier as well. It looks like a regular piece of luggage, and unless you look hard, most people would have no idea there is an animal in there. The seat belt strap in also a great feature when you use it on your car. I only wish it comes in other colors options such as black, dark brown or gray. It was very convenient for carrying the cat into a hotel, and the carriers look like another piece of luggage.I found it incredibly easy and comfortable to carry over my shoulder by the strap or handles. One front panel zips down which is great to have quick access to my cat in the carrier. There is also a side pocket that can hold treats or other small items.The front and top openings were perfect for getting the cat into the carrier, making it much easier than trying to get a cat into a single opening. By not having to wrestle with them. I can't say how these would work on an airplane, but don't see any reason why they wouldn't. I have purchased both cheaper & more expensive carriers in the past where the mesh didn't hold up to continuous digging and chewing. Fortunately, my cats only did a little digging in the beginning. Now that she is getting used to the carrier, so I didn't have that problem.The HUGE difference though is a much more stable and sturdy bottom with my 16lbs cat in it does not sag at all. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend this carrier as a comfortable way to travel with your pet. Just be realistic & don't expect miracles of the product or your pet.
