Best deshedding tool I’ve used
Extremely effective. I have tried four different deshedding tools (including Furminator) and this is by far the most effective on our long-haired dog — there is a wide gap between this tool and the rest. The interior blade surface is very sharp and easily cuts out the loose undercoat without pulling on the dog’s fur. He doesn’t mind being groomed with this tool at all.Note I went with the wide 30T version for our golden retriever (contrary to the manufacturer recommendation) and it is perfect. When this tool inevitably dulls I’ll buy another of the same version.

Well worth the cost
I was very skeptical when I received the comb. I thought wow $40 the others were $5 $6 well throw the five and six dollar ones away. I have a Great Pyrenees who absolutely loves to run through burs and brambles and they get stuck in everything under her little armpits all under her belly in her tail and I thought well I have tried every comb and brush in my box which was 10 of them and I bought the Mars dematting comb ran it through her fur and the burs came out effortlessly, the other Combs and brushes I had to literally pull her hair out or take scissors and trim not with the Mars you just brush it through her fur it's beautiful and she loves being brushed with it and she did not like being brushed with the other combs. Her big sister a mix breed Australian shepherd border collie who gets this undercoat that comes out in clumps in the spring this comb did wonders on her coat. I give this five paws. Both my fur babies love being brushed with it. I highly recommend it don't be discouraged by the price it is a very good comb and well made.

Excellent product! 18 blade size for my golden retriever!
I saw this tool on a Youtube video when I was searching for professional grooming tips for my golden retriever. This is the BEST tool I've ever used for removing "dead" or matted hair! Pay attention to the number of blades on the various tools for purchase and take heed for which one is best for your own dog's needs. I purchased the one with 18 blades and it's perfect for combing through her thick and longer hair.

Game changer for our brush adverse rescue tabby that turned out to have ragdoll in her!
This is the greatest brush of all time for our kitty who HATES to be brushed. We adopted what we thought was a shorthair brown tabby from the HSUS, but it turns out she was just unhealthy. Once on a healthy diet, she developed a ridiculously thick coat of fur with multiple layers... our vet is pretty sure it's a ragdoll mix. Our kitty is a terrible groomer and prefers to rip chunks of her fur out instead of keeping her coat clean on a regular basis. After years of trying brushes, this is the only one that we can use on her in a 1-2 minute time frame (usually while she's sleeping) that actually makes a difference. Within that time we can remove at least a tennis ball size of fur, if not more. Don't hesitate to spend the extra money on this brush - it's so worth it.

Completely worth the money don’t hesitate
I absolutely absolutely absolutely love love love this grooming tool. It is so wonderful. It is so completely worth the money. I had purchased a less expensive version of this and the difference between the Mars grooming, tool, and the knock off one was night and day. I finished grooming, my medium sized dogs and 2 to 3 minutes And it took out all of the gross old dead undercoat that was being shed all over my house. Neither one of my dogs likes to be groomed. But this was fast and efficient and did a wonderful job. I have gotten so many compliments about how great my dog looks, and everybody wants to know what I use on her.

Works really well, almost too well
This products works well, almost too well. It grabs a lot of hair from my dog.

A great tool to have.
We adopted a puppy that grew up to be a German Wirehaired Pointer. We had no idea how to take care of his hair, but this was suggested in a GWP group. I got it and it was so simple and made such a difference. With very little effort I got piles of hair and he looked like an entirely different dog. I like that the blades are curled so it doesn't scrape him - it just glides over his skin. I definitely suggest it.

The Jury Is Still Out
UPDATE 07/28/2024I switched over to the Mars Coat King double-wide brushes, 23- and 30-tooth versions, and they have been night-and-day different from the original small version. These work. They are not miracle workers! Don't expect them to detangle the mats without some additional effort before you begin. I need t use a wide-toothed rake and a comb to get started, and these do the finishing work.In spite of the furry little idiot splashing in the creek every day, I can keep him groomed for three months now. Before, he had to be professionally groomed every three weeks if I didn't want him clipped. As I commented earlier, the initial problem was my fault - I had the wrong tool for the job at hand - and it had nothing to do with these brushes. They're great.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------UPDATE 05/12/2023The seller contacted me through Amazon and offered to make it right, which is amazing, but I declined their offer. I tried to make sure everyone understood my problem was using this tool on an Australian Shepherd with long, "crinkly" hair, and his coat probably contributed to the tool tugging on tangles. In my opinion, that's not the fault of the tool itself.I won't change my three-star rating for the effectiveness of the tool with MY Australian Shepherd, but I cannot recommend Oliver's Pet Care's customer service more highly. They're fantastic folk.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I live with an Australian Shepherd. Aussies have a dense undercoat they shed year 'round and I've tried every undercoat rake and comb I could find to keep him well groomed, but still need a professional groomer once each month to keep him from becoming one big tangle. Then I tried these Mars de-matters. They're almost great. Nothing I've used before now has done one-tenth as good for removing loose undercoat. They're fantastic as an undercoat rake.So far, they aren't as great with tangled or matted fur. The hype about tools like this claims they're gentler on the dog when removing or de-tangled their hair, but so far, after four brushings, I don't think that's true.He likes being brushed. He likes it a lot. But he's not happy when I get to work with the Mars de-matting tool.I've watched videos of how to use them and I'm pretty darned sure I'm doing it correctly, but even in areas where there are no tangles, these drag through his hair and I can see how that would get old real quick.Maybe I'll get better with it over time, and his coat is much softer and fluffier after using this tool, but I won't testify that it's gentle on him, tangled hair or no tangles.Australian Shepherds do not have silky hair. Their coat is almost the exact opposite of silky, and I have no doubt that's part of the reason the Mars de-matter drags through is hair and tugs on it more than I expected it would.I'm fence-straddling by giving it a three-star rating, neither positive or negative. It works great (five stars) but it tugs at his hair (one star) when I use it. Your mileage may vary.In spite of the downside I'm experiencing, this is a solid, very well-made tool and it does it's job of removing his undercoat before it can form a mat. I'd recommend it, especially if, like me, you live with a fuzzy, hairy dog who loves to leap into any kind of water he can find every chance he gets.
