Still better than Microsoft, but some roads still seem too outdated.
I have been using Delorme Street Atlas since 2002 or so. My wife and I have always been pleased with having the larger screen and greater navigation control of a GPS program on our notebook as opposed to a small dashmount GPS. If you currently have Delorme 2007 or newer I would not advise upgrading because this version doesn't offer any needed enhancements that we use nor have I seen much of an update to road data.I love having the Plus version over the regular version because having all that directory information at my fingertips can really make traveling a lot easier. If the kids say they are hungry, you ask Street Atlas where the closest restaurant you love is on your route and it will spit out a list of options. Then you can call ahead and set up reservations because Delorme gives you the phone numbers as well as the address to the restaurant.I have used both Delorme and Microsofts mapping programs and I am much happier with Delorme due to the ease of use of GPS navigation. Also, I have found that Delorme's routes are much more intuitive to road conditions and always seemed to get us to our destination faster than Microsoft.However, with that said, if you already are fully used to the Microsoft version of Streets and Maps then I don't think I would advise you to switch to Delorme because their buttons and controls are completely different and you would be very frustrated trying to relearn how to manipulate the program.

This mapping program is excellent. The supplier did not have any 2009 versions and so he replaced it with a 2010 version. It works well even on my Windows 10 computer.

This is not a TomTom.
This is not a program that you use to go to the store and back. Go buy a TomTom. You have to learn to use this program properly. I use this program to route delivery trucks, calculate mileage and to travel. This product is great for the delivery driver, RV'ers, outside sales people and over the road drivers. You can track and save multiple routes. It allows you to arrange stops in the order that you want. Stops can be put in the most direct route with either the fastest travel time or shortest mileage. There is A GPS log that shows the actual route or routes that were taken. Must purchase a GPS unit to use this feature. Delorme sells a few. I highly recommend it. Every route and every log can be saved.

Street Atlas Pluss 2009
As with any software, the true value and appreciation of its capacity depends on what the primary application is used for. I purchased this software because I enjoy making custom maps of my own creation. This software is able to process the information I want to map and then create a map for me. I do not own GPS equipment so at this time I cannot really say how well this software performs as a GPS interface.Street Atlas also comes with the ability to download aerial photos which really do not do muych more than add dimension to a map. There are other sites on line that offer aerial photos so this is not really a strong selling point for Street Atlas 2009. But I do plan to continue creating my custom maps if for no other reason than I enjoy doing them, and Street Atlas 2009 ought to be able to meet my needs.

Difficult
DeLorme Street Atlas USA Plus 2009I thought I was pretty good with computer programs but this one is really tough to learn. Of course any one can do it but be prepared to spend a couple of full days.My take is that they should have used the system that Microsoft or Apple uses to make a program easy to use. For instance they could have a much more logical menu system and the controls could be more in line with other such software. Instead they chose to create a foriegn system that requires a lot of time to learn. But, when you get it, you got it!Otherwise it is a very comprehensive program that with some additional (and expensive) add on's make the program very useful for travelers. As a stand alone it is not worth the money.

Won't work on my computer
As near as I can tell it won't work on a device with windows 8 or 10. Delorme is part of garmin now. Garmine doesn't support this in any way.

Simply the Best
Having used multiple mapping programs I can only say Street Atlas is simply the best.Easy to use, accurate on address locations and very good on travel times.As a person involved in sales, traveling much of the East Coast, Street Atlas has been an immense help in setting my schedules and developing effective routing.

Delorme Street Atals USA Plus 2009
I purchased this item recently because I wanted to upload it in my HTC phone and take with me on vacation, first of all had difficulty to install it on my desktop (Vista 64 Bit) and my HTC, after installation I found out that this is a very complicated software, and I have to read tutorial carefully which i have not finished it yet, Delorme Technical Support are not that much professional to help you, could NOT install the entire US map on you PDA because it won't( made me very upset, becuase it was the first reason that purchased it).I am pretty sure that this is good software and I might exaggerating because can not upload the entire US map in My phone and have not learned all the futures but up to this point I can not go further and give a higher rating to it.
