Thanks Julia Watkins! Six Saves and one less trip to Home Depot!
Even in this unbearable HEAT- currently still no plant problems! Yep, ' Gardening for Everyone: Growing Vegetables, Herbs, and More at Home,' by Julia Watkins, gets a big nod from me for providing tips that continue to help all of my plants persevere! As an artist turned teacher, most of my friends see me as a nurturing 'crafty artist,' but honestly none have ever described me as a 'crafty gardener' -at least not until this season. In years past, I credited all gardening 'wins' to my skillful Youtubing. This time around, however, I must pat Mrs. Watkins on the back for cutting my gardening woes and full-on 'NO's' down to almost nil. This books' contents have served me and my garden well, and I find myself continuing to use it as an invaluable resource and guide. Indeed it's pages have lifted me and my weak looking plants back from an 'almost grave' into a good place!Although handy in size- this book still can feel a bit hefty. Yet, you will find the index incredibly useful for finding specifics. The beautifully photographed pages, featuring the author's amazing garden, can be rather intimidating. Still I am continuously glad I swallowed my pride and pulled the plug! What first felt like an unnecessary investment, now feels like a MUST HAVE and MUST USE resource. In addition, this book has been really good at listing sound advice on how to BOOT OUT pests and weeds, while simultaneously BOOSTING UP my herbs and wildflowers! How, one might ask? Well if you care, then read the bullet points below highlighting specific pages from 'Gardening for Everyone,' that provided me with SIX Pea Plant "Saves" and 1 Less gas-burning trip to Home Depot!Pea Save #1 From Freezing -p. 63Pea Save #2 From Smothering-p. 64Pea Save #3 From Burning- p. 267Pea Save #4 From Drowning-p. 267Pea Save #5 From Drying- p. 267Pea Save #6 From Stunting Growth and not wasting money on supports at H. A beautiful guide and well-organized reference for growing a garden
Gardening for Everyone is a must-have for beginning gardeners and seasoned green thumbs, from a passionate gardener with a knack for explaining things in a clear, friendly, and helpful way.The book provides a well-organized structure for growing a garden -- from planning in the winter to planting in the spring to harvesting in the fall. At every stage, Gardening for Everyone offers advice, tips, ideas, and other insights, mindful that some people have big backyards and others have just a windowsill in an apartment. It really can be useful for everyone. The book also contains an entire section on plant profiles -- basically, a list of just about everything you might want to grow, with information on when to plant and what grows best (or not) in different climates. This is just as valuable as the book itself. An incredible resource.Maybe the most inspiring part of the book is the section on play -- activities for kids (and creative-minded adults!) that make gardening fun, artistic, and an indelible part of your life. The book looks beautiful on a coffee table or on the shelf, with strikingly vibrant photographs and graceful illustrations. But it's probably best propped up beside a planter or a raised bed, a ready reference to keep handy as grow your garden.

Inspiration for those wanting to garden but unsure how to get started.
What is especially inspiring about this beautifully-written guide to how to become a gardener is the personal narrative in the introduction of the book. The author shares her life-long love of gardening throughout her life, wherever she has lived. The sentimental joys associated with gardening will encourage readers to enrich their own worlds with the nuturing rewards of growing vegetables, herbs, and companion flowers that add so much to our well-being.As you read this superbly organized book, you become aware of the author's approach to gardening as a head, hands, and heart project. The headwork is seen in the in-depth knowledge needed for creating a thriving garden, as well as the planning tips for different garden designs. She provides a range of ideas to put your hands to work to make it happen. And then, there's the heart felt pleasures you can experience from working in your garden, harvesting its bounty, and creating special treats for your children andfamily. If you are a novice or even an experienced gardener, the author helps you plan the work and work the plan to assure a rewarding gardening experience.Gardening for Everyone, with its lovely and helpful illustrations, is a go-to resource you will want to keep handy in your family library.

Great Book!
I originally checked this book out from the library, but when I realized how many pages I had bookmarked, I knew I needed to own it. It’s a great reference and I love the format of the book. It has a lot of information about different types of gardens and considerations. My only complaint is directed at the seller and not the book itself (I don’t see a way to give seller feedback)—I bought a new book but the cover is worn and the corners are damaged.

Simple, beautiful gardening book!
I think the best writers are those who can make something that is actually quite complicated seem simple — this is what Ms. Watkins does in this beautifully cultivated book about gardening. She has a joyful, natural warmth and ease with which she explains the basics and nuances of starting your garden. If you’ve ever been intimidated to start gardening, this book will take you over that barrier and into a place where you feel like you can do it. I’ve always loved her clear, uplifting writing style, as though she is right there talking with you. The beautiful photography (which you can also follow on her Instagram) makes this all the more enjoyable. A gardening gem!

Damaged
I’m giving four stars - not for content but quality. I can’t speak for the content of this book yet, I haven’t read through it as I just received it today but it unfortunately came damaged. I did purchase it new so I’m a little disappointed in that however the book is beautiful.

Impecable.
Recomendable 100%
