365 Days of Wonder: Mr. Browne's of Precepts Library Binding – August 30, 2016

This is a fun book to have around. I have mines on my coffee table. Every morning I wake up and read a quote from the book, and mediate on its meaning. It’s not a life changing book but it’s cool to have something to think about everyday.

I bought several of these and gave them away as presents. Do not be fooled by the cover. It looks like it is a children's book but it's for all ages. They have great quotes by many well-known authors and other great people. Love this book!!!

It is not often that I am turned on to a book by a student. Right before break a student came to me excited. He had seen a book that came after "Wonder" in a bookstore. The only book I could think of was "The Julian Chapter". I kept trying to explain that it was only an ebook. He insised he had seen it in a bookstore. So I did what I do daily, I went to Amazon and typed int he author's name. Imagine my surprise when he yelled, "That's it!" He pointed to the 365 Days of Wonder. Then he asked the most powerful question a student could ask, "Do you have it on your shelves?" I purchased it while he watched. I told him it would come in over our break and he was first on the list to read it, which quickly grew. When the book came in I thought I would just look it over. It quickly became obvious that I had to read the entire book. As always, I read the ones that fell on my birthday and the birthday of family members. One thing I like the most is Mr. Browne's thoughts at the beginning of each month. I will encourage my students to read the as well. Many will see the short quotes and want to read only that. They must know that there is so much to learn from what Mr. Browne has to say before each month's pecepts. I really enjoyed reading and reflecting on these. I have marked several of them to use as a bell starter for my students. It has encouraged me to find more of these. This is a must have companion to the book "Wonder".

The book is phenomenal and my 11 year old son asked for this. So uplifting

This book has one positive frase for each day of the year, which helps you get in a good mind set to start your day, you should have it in your nightstand so you read every day when waking up.

I've never actually read the Wonder books but this, plus other reviews have sparked my interest and it's on my list next. This book is a stand alone, although it mentions a character from the original books if you hadn't read them before, like myself, you wouldn't lose anything from context. This book is full of wonderful quotes for how to live your life, or as the author calls them, precepts. The quotes deal with anything about how to find happiness, or to stay curious, or even encourage hard work and persistence.I bought this book to use in our homeschool. We are secular (without religion) homeschoolers but I wanted some type of quick character study, without the bible. Every morning I write that days' quote on our white board and I am able to discuss what the quote means with them. My children are younger, my oldest is finishing 1st grade and about to move into second with my middle is entering kindergarten. While some of the quotes might need a little help to be explained, they understand most of them. Not only do I have the benefit of some great words to live by every morning, it's really stretching their vocabulary in a natural way as well due to our discussions.

So. As far as the book goes. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! As seen in pics I put here, so does my now 1 year old Great Dane. He hasn’t eaten much since we’ve gotten him at 3 mos old.. unlike most Danes.. but .. this book. When Cooper (Great Dane) destroyed it ..I cried. Lol bc I have so much scribbled stuff on so many pages etc. It was enough of a emotional reaction that my sweet hubby went right back here to Amazon and bought a new one before my tears had dried. Lol this is one of the most amazing books I’ve ever owned. My daughter who bought this book at middle school book fair 1.5 years ago or so.. well I saw it in her room started reading and was hooked. So we actually own 3. Lol I’ll keep my half eaten one bc of my notes in it.. but a great book. Just BUY IT! You won’t be sorry. 💙

At my Intermediate School, we used this book to highlight excellent teaching and caring staff members. We passed it along to a person we wanted to recognize for a particular caring trait. We read from the book at Faculty Meetings and cheered for our coworker. That person would then choose the next person to be recognized.

We read one every day before I read to my 7y/o and 9y/o. Can be read without reading Wonder but do read Wonder because it’s fantastic, my girls adored it, so did I and also the follow up Auggie and Me. I didn’t think it would be up my street to be honest but teust the reviews, I’m so glad I did. Asking my children what they think these mean is fascinating and a great exercise for them in English comprehension and life in general.
