These are essentially outdoor finishing screws, and are much better than finishing nails. You don't run the risk of denting the wood with your hammer or gouging it with a nail set. You don't have to pre-drill (unless you want to be extra careful to avoid splitting the wood) and the T-15 bit that is provided gives your driver a positive, non-slip lock in the fairly narrow head. Being stainless steel, they are ideal for exposure to weather, particularly near the ocean, where I used them. For securing trim or narrow pieces of wood, such as the wooden pickets (or balusters) that support and connect handrails to decking, these are perfect.

Can't find these at the big box stores. Great grip strength, thin enough not to split wood especially since the screw tip has a drill profile. Head is small. Only negative would be the star drive, which means you have to have another drive bit.

Don't pay attention to the 13 ounce shipping weight. Description saying a one pound tub is accurate.

Very good product, worked very well to fasten 2x6 chair rail to walls.
