These Premium Brass .223 Snap Caps are the best available. Manufactured from high quality materials. Get a better product at a price that can't be beat with these quality .223 Snap Caps. Perfect for safety training or checking operation safely. These dummy rounds are designed to offer protection to the firing pin from dry firing due to their filled primer pocket. While these snap caps do provide protection to the firing pin, we do not recommend excessively dry firing any firearm.

Great except for the paint chipping off.
Almost gave them a five - they are actually 223 rounds, except the primers replaced with resin. As other reviewers mentioned the blue paint that identifies them as dummy rounds chips off. So, one of the first things I did was take a knife and scrap all the blue paint off. Of course now the problem is they look identical to real rounds unless you look at the primer. So, I keep all of mine in a sand colored 10 round mag (all my other mags are black), so I know what is what. I also keep one chambered, even if the mag in the well has live ammo, as this prevents a negligent discharge. I don't have kids, but IF someone does come over with kids and IF they get in my gun closet and IF they get the safety off and fire it, no harm done (of course they can then chamber a live round, but not without manually doing so and this just acts as a bit of a safety catch). They do chamber well and I use them for practicing trigger pull on 2 stage triggers or test chambering rounds in new magazines. Other than the paint, great product (and wish I could find a way of marking them with something that doesn't flake off - magic marker eventually wears off)

Great product - better than plastic snap caps.
Great idea for checking functionality with a true-to-life representation of a 223 cartridge. I don't mind that these are made from real ammo (primers have been removed and filled with resin) as I never clean/function check a firearm with live ammo nearby. I understand that the tips were coated with a blue substance to help make them easily identifiable from live ammo, however the blue gunk ends up getting everywhere in your chamber and has to be cleaned out (somewhat defeating the purpose of function checking your firearm after a good cleaning). I don't know how else to mark these without introducing the risk of paint or foreign material getting all over your firearm - but that's my only complaint. Otherwise, I much prefer these over cheap plastic snap caps, which never seem to hold up well to the force applied from the extractor.

Good but could be better
These are great for dry fire practice drills, malfunction checks & more. I wish they'd use a different coated bullet though like some of the orange ones instead of just a normal bullet dipped in paint. The stuff they dip the tip of the copper jacket in just comes right off and gets on the lugs & chamber after only a few uses. I had to recoat mine with my girl's nail polish so there's a noticeable difference between these and my live ammo (even though I keep them separate at all times)

Rounds are substandard.
There rounds are really roughly finished as you can see by the photos and are not even presentable. The primer pockeks are filled with glue and might provide some sort of padding for your firing pin for two to three cambers other then that I cannot say wether or not it would work after that other reviewers have said the same thing. As far as the paint on top of the rounds totally a terrible idea it gets everywhere and fowls your barrel and some of these rounds dont even camber correclty. Other then that wont be buying these again.

Real dummy (inert) . 223 rounds
These are actual .223 rounds not plastic it aluminum. The have a rubbery substance in place of the primer so the firing pin does not strike a hard surfaceTheir cycle well through the gun and are good for practice.

I did read that most snap caps get pretty abused when being used in an AR
The paint rubbed off after only a couple of dry fires but the company refunded my money and let me keep the shells. I did read that most snap caps get pretty abused when being used in an AR. The brass component was great but once the paint wore off they looked like regular ammo so I have to be very careful to keep them separate. I hope the company finds a way in the future to make the paint stay on longer.

loads and extracts just like live ammo
These are actual .223 Remington brass and bullets but with a rubber filling in place of the primer and powder. Handles, weighs, loads and extracts just like live ammo. The only thing to be careful of is that when the blue paint wears off it will look exactly like a live round. Just mark it up with a sharpee if that happens, and don't keep any live ammo at your workbench or dry-fire locations.1 round arrived dented but seller immediately sent a replacement along with a few extra rounds for free. Excellent response time and customer service.

Safety First.
Bought as a gift for my nephew. According to him, they work well. As safety is of great importance, these dummies can be used to "simulate" loading, unloading magazines; and round/shell ejection without the danger of using live rounds...Great idea for training,
