Great Product! Use it daily!
The ez square holder is very reliable and serves its purchase well! I've owned the product for over 6 months now and use it daily! As anything hanging from a tool belt, it can get hung or caught but this can rarely be avoided. All in all I'm very pleased with the product, as well as Amazon's services!

Handy work belt storage!! (from an amateur/hobbyist wood worker)
I am a amateur/hobbyist wood worker and one of the tools that has become absolutely indispensable to me is the humble speed square. The speed square is and *A-M-A-Z-I-N-G* multi-tasker that benefits professional framing carpenters and amateur/hobbyists alike. However, the biggest problem with the speed square is it's awkward shape. I use the speed square for every household wood working project I have gotten into. And most work belt solutions, well, I freekin hate. (Except for the Occidental leathers which are FANTASTIC, but I'm too poor to afford). Then along comes the EZ Square Holder...I paid just under 10$ at Christmas time. Made of a durable plastic with both left and right belt hooks which make the work belt storage of the humble speed square is a breeze!!! This give an amazing amount of flexibility, allowing storage of my speed square on my work bags for major project or just on my work belt for minor projects.I love my EZ Square Holder and would recommend it wholeheartedly to everyone who understands the value of the speed square!I am an amateur/hobbyist wood worker, and I cannot really speak to its jobsite durability. (Tho it seems very hearty)But,... If you are one of these people who are on the fence about purchasing the EZ Square Holder because it has a pencil holder......It is my opinion the pencil holder is an *E-P-I-C F-A-I-L*It is entirely useless to me once the pencil is sharpened.Regardless, the EZ Square Holder has solved a major problem for me by keeping my speed square close to me and have given me many flexible tool belt options, throughout my woodworking projects. And, I would highly, HIGHLY recommend, and is 5 out of 5 stars even with the pencil holder problem.

3 Stars, Updated to 4. Update @ 3yrs
After 3 years, side clip broke. Update: I've been using this now for a couple years. It is holding up well. It is almost an indespensible part of my tool belt. The only issue I'm having with it is the side clips. I had to get creative with a couple of zip ties to keep it secured to my nail apron. You can read the rest of the review. Just know that I added one star.Original Review: Until I use it on a few different job sites, 3 stars is all it gets. After use, rating may go up or down. Reason for the initial 3 star rating; to begin, all the reviews saying you can store a pencil in the holder, have you tried getting to that same pencil after you sharpened it a couple of times? The pencil drops too far down to reach. So, the pencil idea is out. The side clips for the holder don't seem very sturdy. They certainly don't allow for a full size tool apron belt to fit very well. The instructions on the package say that it is made for the Swanson Speed Square. They are incorrect, modification is required to allow a standard aluminum Swanson Speed Square to fit. Fortunately, there are instructions included to make the square fit. It says to shave the inner edge of the holder with a knife until your square fits. I did this, as well as using sand paper. However, any square will be tight when inserted all the way. There is a wedge inside the holder that causes the square to fit tighter the further you insert it. Not sure if I like that or not. It causes you to have to place a thumb on the holder and insert your fingers into the center of the square, then pull up with your fingers while pushing down with your thumb. It isn't difficult, but you can't get to the internal wedge in order to loosen the holders grip on the square. I'm sure they thought maybe it would keep you from losing your square. But, if you are in a position to lose your square from this holder, you probably have bigger issues, like everything in your nail pouches raining down and grabbing whatever solid object you can so as to stop the fall you must be experiencing. Your feet would need to be above your head in order to cause this holder (without the retaining wedge) to drop your square. Anything could be possible I suppose, but why overlook the cheap side clips. Those are more likely to break off and cause your square to fall.

Works best w/Swanson speed square; works OK w/Johnson
Wanted something like this since seeing one on This Old House and am happy I bought it. The Square Holder comes with good instructions w/pictures: read them. The belt clip is 2-1/4" wide and fits my 2-1/4" & 1-3/4" web tool belts fine. To use, slide the speed square flange, with long leg of the square down, into the Holder. The Holder interior is tapered toward the bottom to pinch the flange web and the harder you push the square down, the harder the square sticks. Don't push. I have two metal made-in-USA speed squares: a Swanson and a Johnson Level & Tool RAS1. The Swanson's flange averages 0.860" wide and the web averages 0.165" thick. The Swanson slides into the Holder straight, with no "twisting", and stops 3/16" from the bottom. The Johnson flange averages 0.810" wide and the web 0.185" thick. The narrower Johnson flange can "twist" unless held at right angle to the Holder. When "twisted", the Johnson square stops 3/4" from the bottom and "sticks" more: when inserted "straight" it stops 3/8" from the bottom. The Holder is a MUCH better way for me to carry either speed square than in my tool belt pouch/pocket and I use it with either of them.

Not wide enough for some squares, doesn't slide out easily enough
My Milwaukee square has a wider flange that won't fit in this holder. Also, another square I have that does fit ends up jammed too tightly. Go to remove it and you pull the whole holder off your belt. Needs to be wider and have a less aggressive wedge inside.

Made in USA
Works with my metal speed square, doesnt work with my plastic speed square. I use my plastic square for finish work, need to sand the holder for it to work with my plastic square. I use my metal for framing.

Dont get it if you own an empior square
Good idea for a product but my empior quick square doesnt fit in the slot so no good for me but the cheaper thinner gauge squres would be fine!
