Great beginning to a new series for kids of all ages
Whether you've read the previous Unwanteds series or not, this is a great beginning to a new series for kids of all ages. You don't have to read the Unwanteds series because the author fills in enough details to bring the reader up to speed. (But I do highly recommend reading that series as well.) In this book we spend time with many of our favorite old characters and make friends with new characters as well. It is full of action, adventure and magic. Thisbe and Fifer are really a handful for Alex. He has become a sullen father-figure in their lives and doesn't know how to handle them. That's when the girls decide to make him proud and fly off on a poorly-planned expedition with their best friend Seth. And we find out what has happened to the dragon Pan's five children as well as one of the meanest characters from the previous series. The last chapter leaves you with a cliff-hanger. It seems that one of our beloved characters dies... but I wouldn't be so quick to say she is gone. I guess we'll know for sure once the next book comes out.

Great Series for kids that enjoy action, magic and fantasy!
I am a school librarian and my 9 year old grandson was telling me about the โUnwantedโ series. We had an on going contest reading that series by Lisa McMann. We had loads of fun discussions about the books then we quickly moved on to the โDragon Questโ series. Loved them both. Nice mix of kids being heroโs, magic, fantasy and maturing. I have just ordered both series for my Middle School! Looking forward to the next Dragon Quest release in September!

I liked Thisbe and Fifer
I liked Thisbe and Fifer, they were very likeable and it was nice to see the bond between them. But Alex is very annoying to be honest, I don't agree with the way he treated them (especially since they ACTUALLY CAN'T CONTROL THEIR MAGIC and he of all people should understand what it feels like to be misunderstood and prevented from doing something they are passionate about!). Fortunately though it seems that Alex will realize this, so I'm not worried about it being another story where parents/guardians treat their kids like crap and saying that it's okay. I understand that nobody's perfect, but I really hope it's acknowledged that Alex isn't being the best brother and could definitely do better.

Great Job Once Again
Amazing. McMann twists the plot yet again. You will be in for a ride.*spoilers below*If you read the other books you know how Lisa McMann twists the plot and makes you scream. Well she did it again. Sky disappears and Alex is already having a hard time. Aaron has a child whicis taking up a lit of his time too. So everyone is busy and the twins don't get what they want. So at the end an old enemy comes back... and one of the twins is captured. The end sucks but the storylines are great and I can't wait for the next books. Like give em to me.

not happy with this series
I thought this series had a good beginning. I loved the characters of the Unwanted series, including these twins that they introduced at the end of the series. I was very disappointed in the character development of the older series characters. I figured they would get better with the books. The ending of this book was so shocking (i'll try not to spoil anything) that i started reading the synopsis of the rest of the series books to see if I wanted to continue and see what happens. Turns out, the author decided to take this to a really dark place and I was super unhappy with character and story developments. I have decided not to read on. I loved the Unwanted series. This was a major disappointment.

I loved it but Alex was a wuss.
It was amazing and I am glad she made a book on fifer and thisbe but I think Alex is being a wuss and should just work Harding on getting his right hand to work better. I had to when I broken my arm! Alex is not working hard enough!

Great Follow Up Series.
My 10 year old is a huge Lisa McMann fan and this was his favourite book so far. He read it in under 3 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. He has a slightly higher reading level that his age and some of the themes of both of these series are slightly older than some people might want their younger children to read but they are well written and very engaging.
