If you're looking for a fun way to introduce your children to a second language like Spanish or French, then this award-winning title is just the ticket. Like the other titles in the Mia Collection, Mia Language: The Kidnap Caper, integrates educational content into an original and entertaining story, so that children learn while they play. This latest Mia title also builds on the series' heritage of endearing characters, fun activities and broadcast quality 3D graphics. The player controls Mia throughout the game, where there are clues to find, useful items to pick up and decisions to make, all designed to encourage your kids to think for themselves. Just when Mia's grandmother, Mimi is about to win this year's art competition, the lights go out. When they finally come back on, Mimi is gone, and so are the Sparklies that were to be the prize. Romaine however is still around, so who could have done something this evil and why? Help Mia look for her granny and unravel the truth behind this caper, all while practicing Spanish or French as a second language. These new tools and technologies can lead to new exchanges that could be enriched by learning foreign languages. With this in mind, Mia's new adventure, The Kidnap Caper, features an ideal occasion for children to expand their knowledge of these two languages. Choose to learn either French or Spanish as a second language Three difficulty levels to choose from / Colorful and endearing characters Sentence structure Placing the adjective Verb tense (e.g. present, past, future) Decoding the meaning of words in the second language using context, visual clues and sounds Use of prior knowledge in mother tongue as a source of information to understand the second language Includes practicing, repeating and integrating the vocabulary Self-evaluation (e.g. reflection on what has been learned) System Requirements - Windows XP SP2, 2000 SP4, Vista, Pentiu

My kid loved it - until unsolvable program glitch
My 6-year-old daughter actually liked this game very much, and could play by herself fairly easily. I thought the graphics were good and it did a better job of teaching than other programs I have tried (Kids Speak French). However, a short way into the game the mouse character ends up in a room with some pipes, and does nothing but walk in a tiny circle with no apparent way to make her stop (I tried clicking literally everywhere on the screen and on the few buttons (F1, etc) used, including clicking the character's face which is supposed to supply hints, with no effect. My husband, who is like myself a veteran video game player, also tried his best, to no avail.) We restarted the game and hoped this wouldn't happen a second time - but it did.

some pretty old ones 2005(
Beware Mac users, this product is not supported by Mac platforms that do not have Rosetta stone pc/mac compatibility software. We have tried this disk with a variety of Macs, some pretty old ones 2005(?) and some really new ones fitting the description requirements. It opens but can't upload the software. Save your time and money!

Great Product
Great product - kids love it, enjoy playing on the computer with it. Great value for price - the narrorator's voice is a little annoying. Excellent starter language product!

Slow moving.
This product could be very good, but it is frustratingly slow. More content could be given to kids and adult supervision is needed as kids begin the sessions. It is not a favorite at our house for kids or parents.

Really bad cd
I really liked the idea that it would teach my child spanish. So when I ordered it, I was very disappointed because it did not work, even though my computer could handle the software. I returned it thinking that I got a defected one. I reordered it again and the same thing happen. I would never recommend it to anyone. Hopefully they might take the time to make sure it works.
