A must have for your string trimmer
Were you like me? Old string trimmer died. Ran to the local big box home improvement store and purchased a shiny new Echo trimmer, took it out of the box, and saw that it had a head that uses single pieces of line. UGH.... Purchased this Echo Speed Feed head and it was an exact replacement for that high maintenance one that came with the new trimmer. No more stopping and replacing string every 5 minutes. With this, you just fill it up and go. Do yourself a favor and ditch that awful factory string head and get this one.

Why did I wait so long??
Can’t believe I’ve been putting up with an 8-yr old head that stopped bumping years ago. I ordered this OEM part (Echo Speed Feed 400 replacement head) for my Echo SRM 225 string trimmer and it screwed in and I was trimming in under 5 minutes. And I’m not mechanically handy at allThere are no instructions or adapters in this kit so when I opened the package—WHICH WAS DELIVERED THE SAME DAY I ORDERED IT— I had a twinge of regret for ordering it around midnight and being too lazy to go out to the garage to double check what specific Echo model I have. This is not one of the universal heads with a variety of adapters, this one is made by echo to fit echo trimmers. I got a little anxiety realizing that my trimmer needed to be one of the models this head fit, and there wouldn’t be any adjusting with adaptersSo I grabbed the replacement head and took it to the garage and immediately saw that I was in luck as the trimmer hanging vertically displayed the model # prominently: SRM 225I watched 5 seconds of a YouTube video and saw that the original head should screw off. Probably should have watched 3 sec more because 1. First u need to insert a small screwdriver into a slot which rotates around the housing and then spin it until it catches…2. NOW the shaft is held still and the head can be screwed off in *counterclockwise fashionThis took me about 3 min to figure out on my own and was the most difficult step. Of course the video went over this if I had just hung in there for a bit longerOnce the old head was off I realized that the shaft and drive gear thingy and all parts of the housing had hundreds of threads of the black plastic landscaping fabric that I put under my mulch to keep weeds from growing root networksI knew those strings of plastic often wrapped around the head while trimming but I thought I was stripping them off each time.Nope, I was just removing only the most obvious threads that hung outside the head. The inside was packed tightly with chaotic spools of them. Those threads undoubtedly contributedt to the breakdown and warping of the original head and probably were causing the string windings to get crammed and stick together preventing the ends from being lengthened unless i took the head cap all the way off and unwound themPulling them out took a minute or two, and I cursed my laziness again and then screwed on the new head, depressed the bumper and released some string and fired that hot beyatch up and it was really just that easy!Echo made a great trimmer in the SRM 225 and I’m quite used to the length, balance, and head angle on the shaft so hopefully the motor will last another few years. With trimmers like these selling for well over $200 the authentic Echo Speed Feed 400 is a tremendous value proposition. It’s $10 more expensive than the universal replacements made by other brands but the shipping time was crazy fast and it was a breeze to install. I would recommend it unreservedly

Great product
Worked perfectly. Note - you have to take the full head assembly off by putting an Allen key or something into the hole on the trimmer mount. At first I thought it wasn’t going to work. Once I removed the old mount, it screwed right in.

Great Buy
Be sure and watch YouTube videos for how to replace string. So easy to do it seems. I was all wrong. Wow.

Not the universal fit
Like the speed feed on my Husqvarna trimmer. This is not the universal fit speed feed but able to use with my older parts.

Part only, no packaging....buyer beware.
Buyer beware this does not come with any packaging or instructions included. Should be listed as such, like a warehouse item. Sending mine back. I received it in a wrinkled plastic bag like it was some leftover part. The product description should have made it clear that this is the head only with no supporting parts or instructions included and shipped in a zip lock bag.

Major upgrade for 60V Dewalt trimmer head that won't stop spooling out and tangling.
I bought this as an upgrade for the head on my 60V Dewalt that was constantly feeding out line and getting the lines wrapped around itself. The Echo head is a simple upgrade that just plain works the way I expect it to.It's a good thing the head is easily swapped out otherwise I'd be fighting Dewalt for a refund on a trimmer that hadn't even been used half a season. One important note - trimmer heads are left hand thread, so lefty tightly rightly loosen lol.

it probably only fits echo
It did not fit my trimmer but I kept it anyway its probably a good trimmer head but didn't come with the bushings to fit smaller shafts it didn't claim to come with them and I will probably be able to use it on down the road
