Kishu Binchotan Japanese Premium Charcoal From Kii Mountains Japan

I am enchanted with my Kishu Binchotan charcoal. Two sticks are boiling giddily as I write. Even if they didn't work - and they do - I would buy from this particular seller because my generous supply of charcoal arrived fed in an aubergine organza bag accompanied by not only a photograph of the charcoal maker tending his fire but two Orgami swans. Neatly and appropriately packaged, they arrived much earlier than expected as they travel far and to a small island where bottles of water ($$$) or water filters ($$$$) are an absolute health must. These lovely sticks take it all on for -$$. Thank you for my swans.

I go through a lot of these and I can taste a difference in the water. I can't swear to their efficacy in filtering out lead or whatever but I'm mostly confident. Boil them occasionally and let them dry completely before re use and then replace every several months or so.

This is the best stuff for making your drinking water lose that chlorine taste. It's reported to filter out bad things from water, too, like trace pharmaceuticals and toxic minerals. I don't know if that's true and I don't care. I just love how it makes my water taste, and how easy it is to use.

Perfect presentation as the Japanese are known for. Wrapped in very nice foil and a hand written thank you note written in Japanese in English.

I use these as a filter and they work very well. makes everything taste better.

What a ripoff. There are two tiny little sticks in the package. Maybe if I run them together hard I can start a fire that lasts 15 minutes.
