Excellent and simple box. I wanted one like this but in English oak. a few coats of stain and a few coats of wax finish and hey presto, a lovely box!

I am so pleased with this box - it is so refreshing to receive an item that is exactly as described, thank you.

Would have given it 5 stars but there is a small gap when it's closed. I needed a tighter seal for the intended use but still a good quality finished product. I stained it with dark mahagnoy stain. It looks really nice now

Nice box to keep little objects

This really is a low cost plain box. It’s well made even though the wood is nothing special and it does have a strap inside to ensure the lid doesn’t fall back. This is really useful because the hinges are weak and only clipped in. They are low quality and the first thing I did was replace them. It would have been nice to have a tray insert inside but at the price for the box that’s probably a step too far. The box will need some sort of treatment when you first get it – stained, varnished or something like that. We’re using ours for our six year old granddaughter to keep her craft stuff in so I’ve painted her name on top then got her to wildly decorate it.

Well made sturdy box

While it may be mass-manufactured, it’s some of the details in this wooden box that I rather like. Every corner is curved, but not just in a basic CAD ‘apply bevel’ way, instead it seems to have been given a little thought. The top corners of the lid still have points, while the rounded edges where the main box and lid have a more oval finish. The hinges are gold but modestly sized and discreet, and overall it’s a smart-looking box.Looks-wise if I could change one thing about it, it would be the ugly way the fabric is stapled to the inside of the box, on the fabric strap that stops the lid from falling backwards.It’s nicely weighted, and the wood is not unduly thin. When the lid closes, there’s a satisfying sound- a click for a gentle close, a big wooden clap if you let it drop shut, showing that it fits neatly together. I can’t see any splinters or imperfections in the box that I got, everything is neatly finished off in all corners.You might get similarly sized and priced boxes in the high street shop that begins with ‘The W’ and ends in ‘orks’, but this one feels like it’s generally smarter in quality without being priced higher.
