Product was a very good match to the original tailgate latch. Put this on my 2001 Tacoma. Easy replacement in less than five minutes! Would have given 5 stars, but the plastic handle is thin and has flexibility. Seems they could have "hardened" the actual latch part where it attached to the overall mechanism, in order to provide additional strength. I'm just hoping it will be a long term solution and I won't be replacing it anytime soon. Having said, parts arrived ahead of schedule and again, from a form, fit and function a perfect replacement.

When my tailgate stopped working, I looked to YouTube for suggestions. After skimming a couple of videos, I decided the repair was easy enough and within my wheelhouse. I searched for a part that seemed to be good enough and the right fit. My truck is already old enough that it wasn’t worth finding one that would last forever, because I’d probably sell the truck off before repair would be needed again. I’ve already replaced the drivers side door handle, so I know more repairs of this nature are in the cards. Ordered the part, got it, installed it (which meant taking the cap off, which was the longest and hardest part of the repair). Simple repair and now I know I can trust my tailgate for the next twenty years.
