Excellent 3rd-4th grade supplement to COVID-19 distance learning.
Since mid-March, Covid-19 shelter in place & social distancing, my 3rd grader has been participating in our public-school district's online distant-learning for the remainder of the school year. However, the amount of daily instructor lead teaching time, interactive class activity and exercise/work activities are unacceptably short versus a 'normal' public school day.So, I ordered the Smart Practice 4th grade workbook to supplement the online distance learning. Usually I order a workbook at the end of the school year for practice over summer vacation before the incoming grade to help my daughter prepare for next grade level. This workbook is a great complement for 3rd grade to 4th or to reinforce 4th grade learning. The exercises are interesting, short and precise. Reading comprehension selections cover interesting topics. The exercises are not just multiple-choice questions, but require why and supportive explanatory written responses, which enforce critical thinking, writing and grammar, etc. I like the fact that on each page, the upper right corner of the page identifies and summarizes/describes the concept covered on the exercise. If my daughter is struggling on a specific topic, then I know what to help her with and can lookup supplemental exercises online. The only questionable section is Cursive Writing, whether that will still part of the public-school curriculum, but it may be around for another MM/2000 years, like roman numerals. The Math section, while large, can be further subdivided into smaller sections as Fractions or Geometry or Long Multiplication/Division, etc.Overall, I really like the content and organization of this workbook for my outgoing 3rd grader.

Awesome for 4TH graders!!!
I bought this for my son who’ll be starting 4th grade in the fall...When I opened the book, I immediately realized this wasn’t the usual predictable workbook I am so used to seeing...Instead I was pleasantly surprised to find a book that is engaging with its reading comprehension being just long enough to get the reader interested and not bored. Pages aren’t lengthy. So the reader doesn’t lose interest. (which is a definite home run for my son).

Great workbook! Buy this one.
Just what I was looking for! My 9 year old is moving from 3rd to 4th grade and I wanted a workbook that would introduce him to fourth grade material this summer. My 7 year old is moving from 1st to 2nd and likewise I ordered the Second Grade version for him. Our plan is to do one page of each color coded section a day. Something like Breakfast, 3 pages in the morning, chores, then free play (outside/lego/games/tv/tablet) then 2 pages after lunch then more free play until eat dinner, bath and read 20 mins before bed. This book is perfect to help keep thier little minds going this summer. They both sat down with no complaints. My oldest enjoyed the math puzzles and cursive writing the most. So far my youngest liked reading the stories and answering the questions best. They both do well in school and I want to keep it that way! No summer slide here! I have always kept them going in the summer months because I think it makes a big difference when school starts back! The flash cards are nice and I am keeping them in a ziploc bag. I also ripped the answer key out of the back and stapled it together to keep it seperate, so if needed I can refer to later.

Good for reading, grammar, writing and vocab
I bought these books for my 3rd grader to challenge him more than he is at school. This book is great for learning and understanding thr english language. It explains grammar and punctuation. The math section is too easy, in my opinion.
