Awkward Aardvark (African Animal Tales)

This book was one of my favorites as a child, and it was a staple in any of the preschool classes where I taught. Mongoose and the other animals have a problem: Aardvark's awful snoring keeps them up at night. They each attempt to interrupt him but he just falls back asleep, snoring louder than ever. Eventually, they realize a solution that comes from an unlikely source.I am currently working with preschoolers who adore this book. They love to pretend to be Aardvark and the other animals, often coming up with plans for how to get Aardvark to stop snoring. The book lends itself to discussions about teamwork and resourceful problem solving, not to mention some very impressive snore-offs! I highly recommend it.

I bought this book used. It was in very nice condition. It was for my daughter who teaches daycare at a school aptly named Aardvark. I also purchased  Webkinz Aardvark January Pet Of The Month  a stuffed Aardvark to go with it so the "Littles" could hold the stuffed Aardvark while she read the story to them. It is a nice story, not overly long but long enough to be a good sleepy time story book. Nice illustrations too.

We started with this book line two years ago when I was TDY to Uganda. We've completed the set via Amazon and have bought different books from sellers all over the world. Our daughter is in love with these books. The stories are funny 'histories' of how and why animals across Africa came to be, act certain ways and interact with each other. They all have fantastic endings and we read & re-read them over and over before bedtime. She has dozens of books for a three-year old and, along with her Little Golden Books, these are her favorites...while she can't read them yet, she can tell you the stories -- cover-to-cover -- simply by looking at the pictures.

This series of books is WONDERFUL!! My grandkids aged 4 and 7 beg me to read them over and over!!

Used as an intro to an art lesson. Good book. I can't believe they require a minimum amount of words. Crazy. They want an opinion and then ask for so many words. What are they nuts!

My son absolutely loves this book, he gets such a kick out of the mongoose and his friends. The artwork is very well done and the story has a nice touch to it. A++ all around.

This is such a sweet book. My primary school children loved it. They are 5 and 6 years old.

My daughter (2.5) loves this book, I bought an "African Tales" set but it didn't include this so bought it seperately.... this one has become one of her favourites. Great pictures and tales
