I've been using Progenex protein supplements and bars off and on for the past few years with excellent results. The mixes are tasty and the bars are a bit chewy, but also tasty and give me the energy boost I need to keep going with workouts. So naturally, I wanted to try the Haute Cakes when they hit the Progenex shop online. My hopes for taste, texture, and ease of preparation were high, based on my previous experiences with their product. The positive aspects are, that the texture and ease of preparation were great; the pancakes cooked up nicely and the texture is comparable to Krusteaz or Bisquick, just a bit thicker. The taste, though? Not good at all. Biting into that first piece was fine, then it shifted weirdly to a cardboard-ish flavor with a very bitter aftertaste. I'm so sad! I mean, maybe if you drown them in syrup, they'd be better, but that kind of defeats the purpose of having a healthy pancake. I wanted to love these, but it seems that the Haute Cakes are not to be loved. Back to the grainy BirchBender brand, I suppose. *sigh*

Great taste for protein pancakes so far. They tend to be a little bit dry but nothing syrup or honey can't fix, super easy to prepare and great price for the quantity you end up getting. Highly recommend over other brands.

Husband is in love with these pancakes and will not eat anything other pancakes now

It tastes exactly like a protein pancake. If you cook them even 15 seconds too long you are stuck with chalk.

Bad Flavor! Not recommended

For a protein pancake, this mix has good flavor. Like all protein pancakes, they are quite dry. Substituting the oil for pumpkin purée, applesauce, or mashed banana helps :) Overall, the best protein pancake mix I've tried.
