The best way to aerate your lawn without machinery. Don't scrimp on a cheaper version
These work well. You should avoid scrimping on a cheaper version as they will break, but these are robust in the sole and the spikes. It also comes with a handy trowel for cleaning that can double for other gardening jobs. You need to spend a bit of time with the strapping. For the average (size 9) foot you'll need to bring the toe strap back a notch. Don't bring the heal strap forward (for the average foot) as the back strap isn't long enough.Make sure the Velcro is on the outside (there isn't left or right shoe) to avoid the strapping riding up on your ankle. Then, tramp away like a pantomime giant! Don't go over the same spot too often as you'll quickly start digging up your lawn.

Efficient Lawn Care Companion
I recently tried out the Ohuhu Lawn Aerator Shoes with Stainless Steel Shovel, and I'm impressed with their performance, rating them a solid four stars. Here's why:Effective Aeration: These shoes make aerating the lawn a breeze. The stainless steel spikes penetrate the soil easily, allowing for proper airflow and water absorption, which promotes healthier grass growth. I noticed a significant improvement in my lawn's vitality after just a few uses.Convenient Design: One of the highlights of these aerator shoes is their ease of use. They're simple to put on and tighten, thanks to the adjustable straps. However, it's worth noting that those with smaller feet may find the straps a bit loose, so it's important to ensure a snug fit before use.Durable Construction: The stainless steel spikes and sturdy straps contribute to the overall durability of these aerator shoes. I appreciate that they can withstand the rigors of regular lawn maintenance without showing signs of wear and tear.Bonus Shovel: The inclusion of a stainless steel shovel is a nice bonus. It's useful for various gardening tasks beyond aerating, adding extra value to the purchase.

Simple and effective
Easy to use and certainly do the job of aerating the grass. They get a little getting used to when you have them and you need to walk like you are on the moon but they are great for exercise and penetrate deep enough to do the job.

Caused serious issue with my lawn
Ok firstly the positives; They are very robust and did the job asked of them and the price is pretty good. Look as if they will last quite a few years.Ok cons: they are tricky to put on and it helps if your a contortionist or get someone else to do them up for you:Also it was a bit annoying that some of the spikes kept coming loose so had to keep stopping to tighten them up again. But you get a spanner with them to do this so its not the end of the world, just awkward and time consuming. One last con and this may be unique to me but since I have spiked my lawn using these, my pretty health lawn has developed large yellow patches of grass and the grass appears to be dying. I would say over 30% of the lawn that I aerated. Not sure why and other than cutting the grass i had done nothing to it, so can only assume these have caused the grass to die. This is very disappointing as my grass was looking the best it had done in years, so just be aware. If your grass is looking ok, I would not recommend using these just in case the same happens to you. shame as I have clay rich soil and I was so hoping this item would help with drainageHope this information is useful

Sadly not for elderly overweight gardeners!
I think this product is very well made and believe it would make an excellent job of lawn aeration, but unfortunately as an overweight mid 70s gardener I found I was unable to pull my foot out of the lawn and kept falling over. I do believe you could develop excellent calves and thighs by using this product, but unfortunately I don't initially have the leg strength to pull the shoes out of the ground and only after I'd fallen was I able to get to the shoes off my feet to pull them out of the ground. Sadly I shall be returning these for a foot plate spiker but don't be put off by my experience.

Did the job
Bought these to airate my rubbish lawn. They were relatively easy to put on as all of the strapping is of a good length and adjustable. The plastic base is built well and is strong. Make sure you wear thick socks as the strapping can chaff. It's fairly easy to walk in them if your lawn isn't made of soaking wet clay. They are designed well, do the job and are good value for money

A good buy
We've moved house and the lawn was in poor condition so I looked at aerator tools and decided on the shoes because I needed the depth and shoes provide your body weight to get that depth. These are good. I've done a middle sized lawn and it's turning from a grey green to green with the help of moss killer too. I shall do again in June. They are sturdy and good value for money.

Shoud do a good job but not so easy to fit on, and be careful in use!
They are certainly well made, sturdy and robust, but I have reservations about how easy they are to get on. I use an old pair of hiking boots for the garden and had great difficulty strapping on the spikes. It was much easier when I changed to a pair of trainers/walking shoes as I could slip my foot in from the back and tighten the straps around my foot, which was something I could not do with the boots.I did not feel totally safe wearing them when mowing, though, as they are best used walking in a straight line and not turning, when there is a tendency to go over on your ankle. For the same reason I would caution against using them on a hard surface such as a drive or pathway. All in all, though, they are a good buy and it feels as they would go a great job of aerating the lawn, as the spikes sink right in to the ground quite easily and smoothly. The addition of extra spikes, a spanner and trowel are a bonus!
