I had never made pleated drapes before and this book saved the day. It has several different ways to make pleated drapes and gives you a formula to work out the yardage and number of pleats and spaces that you will need. Plus it has instructions for lots of other kinds of drapes - tab top, gathered, pocket, lined and unlined. The instructions are very clear and well written. One very minor annoyance was that I did find myself flipping back and forth between the basic drape making pages and the pleated drapes pages, but I guess that sort of organization could not be helped. The book has lots of pictures for inspiration, and the instructions are very well documented with photos.

This book provides a good coverage of different curtain construction but isn’t close to being an instruction book. Details are not well illustrated and a dimension cited in step A are contradicted by the dimension cited in step B. If you start cutting and stitching according to the instructions it is guaranteed not to work. Need to figure out your own hem allowances.

This book is great, it fully explains the art of draperies! Susan makes it simple to figure out calculations as other drapery books have way too many steps. It is everything you want to know about draperies, blinds and valances. Susan Woodcock is superb and love her work!

I used this book for research purposes but loved it also. Great book, great visuals. Delivered in excellent condition and within time.

Some good ideas, with detailed instructions and descriptions. I might have liked a bit more on valances and top treatments, but perhaps that's for another book.
