US Navy Frigates of the Cold War (New Vanguard)

Bravo.

The search for the right ship...
At the end of the Second World War, the German U-Boat threat was replaced by increasingly sophisticated Soviet submarines. The destroyer escorts of WWII were quickly inadequate. The U.S. Navy would spend decades experimenting with ship sizes and configurations to deal with an evolving worldwide threat environment. Experienced author Mark Stille here provides a quick history of the U.S. Navy's Cold War frigates. The author puts a discussion of weapons systems and a concise but fascinating operational history up-front, before examining the successive classes of frigates. The text includes ship listings by class along with lots of period photographs and illustrative ship diagrams. His concluding analysis is brief but very much to the point. Well recommended as a concise read on the topic.

Good memories
I found this book very informative about the design history of these classes. It shows how each successive design grew from the one before, even when the end product looked different. I served on a Knox class and a Perry class, and this book fills in the gaps of my memories.

Nice and brief.
This is typical with the other books in the series from the publisher, in terms of content, format, and presentation. The only complaint is that the fonts for photos are a bit too small.
