The perfect book for these crazy chaotic times...
Kudos to Jessie for taking the Tao and putting her own unique spin on every single page. Her voice throughout the book is so authentic and makes the Tao far more relatable than any archaic male translation. She spent years researching the tao and it really shows. What is also great about the book is that it’s so relatable and timely. She even has a chapter about working with Ukrainian president and hero Zelensky. As a fellow immigrant, I was touched by the themes of acceptance, reinvention and ultimate surrender that permeate the book. The text is beyond relevant to anyone who wants to incorporate the TAO philosophy into their own lives in a practical way. Just brilliant. So much heart and wisdom in every page!

Such a calming book
This is such a calming book. Every one of these little stories in here is great; writing is skillful and entertaining and the lessons are not on-the-nose. Initially, I thought this is a self-help book, you know the type - stop and smell the roses, be here and now, and that kind of advice. It sort of is, but at the same time, it's much more than that. The writing has an honesty and genuine quality about it that just can't be manufactured at will. It's a perfect book to pick up, read a few stories and get on with your day. It will leave you in a good mood and inspired, and what more can you ask from a book!

A fascinating journey.
Don't Just Sit There, DO NOTHING: Healing, Chilling, and Living with the Tao Te Ching by Jessie Asya Kanzer explores her discovery and growth with Tao Te Ching. You feel she opens her heart and reveals the secrets that inspired her. In some ways, Tao Te Ching's philosophies and practices are similar to Confucius. They believe in inner strength, simplicity, patience, and compassion. There is no God in their belief, setting themselves up as the center of their life and then reflecting that love for self to others. I enjoyed the stories of her life and the peace she has found.

Thoroughly delightful book
The " Don't Just Sit There Doing Nothing" book by Jessie Asya Kanzer is a read that is impossible to put down. The book is engaging and enchanting, a completely unique style of writing. The author is delightfully courageous and stunningly honest. It's a book of becoming a grown up and raising a family that gives young people a road map to follow and adults a way to understand younger generation and reflect on their own lives. The Tao Te Ching references are fresh and timeless, helpful in filling the void of religion in our in great part atheist society. Not only would I recommend the book, I believe it is a must read for coming of age young people. I have sent the book to my granddaughter already. Fantastic work Asya! Congratulations!!!

The book offers lots of self-reflective guides for each topic which is useful for determining how these topics apply to you. Great self-help book
Don’t Just Sit there, DO NOTHING: Healing, Chilling, and Living with the Tao Te Ching by Jessie Asya Kanzer is a unique self-help type of book. The title of the book is initially what caught my attention and made me curious as to what this book was really about. I think this could be a great book for any person. Every person has some kind of stress in today’s world, whether small or big, and I think they could find something advantageous to reading this story, something they can apply to their own life to help mitigate some stress and help adopt the principle of the Tao. I think it can help boost emotional health in more ways than what someone may initially think.

Excellent Spiritual Guide
Don't Just Sit There, DO NOTHING: Healing, Chilling, and Living with the Tao Te Ching by Jessie Asya Kanzer is the kind of book you can read over and over and glean something different each time. Born in the Soviet Union, the author and her family sought asylum in the U.S. This experience changed her and caused her to pursue things in life that aren't particularly healthy. With the use of Tao Te Ching, she changed her course in life for the better. Here she is sharing her knowledge and experiences to enable change and positivity in others. Definitely, a well-thought-out and helpful book, this one is highly recommended for an immersive and eye-opening experience.

Approachable, Warm-Hearted and Much-Needed
I read Kanzer's book for a first time so quickly because I found it easy-to-read, relatable as someone who is not familiar with the Tao, and the exercises at the end of each chapter were thought-provoking without creating barriers to practice them. However, I did speed through it because I was enjoying it, and then I took some of the wisdom from the author's pages and slowed down and allowed myself to enjoy it more fully a second time. I am loving it even more a second time through. The book is helpful for those who are not so good at getting through typical self-help books (raises hand!), and it offers powerful tools to use during all challenging moments in life. Definitely recommend.
