Love these as non toxic alternative
After learning how bad plastic is for you, we swapped our kids plastic cups out for better alternatives. We tried stainless steel ones, but there were recalls in other brands for lead and I didn’t want to chance it. We tossed those and got these glass cups. They are so cute and versatile. I love that there’s no valves or hard to clean pieces, and when my kids get too big and outgrow them they can be used as storage jars with the included lids! My kids are 4 and 8 and they both love these cups. They’ve knocked them over and dropped them a few times and they haven’t broken. Perfect size for little hands and to keep my kids from drinking too much juice. They will leak if tipped, but with the lid and straw the leakage is pretty minimal. Overall, happy with this purchase!

My Search is Over
As crazy as it may sound, finding the right drinking cups for my kids has been challenging. Seems ridiculous right?! There are so many choices out there. In my attempts to find the “right one” I think I’ve tried most on the market to no avail. The ones I’ve brought have either fallen apart, broken too easily, the kids didn’t like them, they weren’t spill proof, or they weren’t cups the kids would continue using in a year or two. Finally my search is over!! I found Elk and Friends - and yes, they feel like true friends. This review is on the long end, but I have a lot to say about these fun cups. So this is not my first purchase from Elk and Friends. I recently purchased a couple sets of their 8oz glass cups and their 8oz stainless steel cups. WE LOVE THEM and the KIDS LOVE THEM!! They are the only cups they use now. The comment was from my oldest who wished the cups were a little larger. Fortunately, Elk and Friends was there for us again as they offer these cups in a 12oz version. A few notes about why we LOVE these cups – the 12oz as well as their 8oz cups: 1. Eco friendly. Whenever possible we prefer to use glass and stainless for beverages and food. Also love their simple yet cute packaging. 2. Versatile. Use them as cups or containers. Great for kids and adults. In addition to the straw lid these cups also come with a matching leak proof lid. These are awesome for turning your cup into a snack or food storage container. The lids also work with our other regular mouth mason jars. So we can use them in the freezer or fridge for our other food storage. I know it’s not important but I love having the fun colors for my mason jars. It makes my mundane duties more fun. 3. Easy to replace glassware. Yes, glass is not indestructible but replacements glasses are easy to get. We have purchases other brands of glasses with silicone sleeves but the glass was thin and they all broke quickly. It’s been challenging to get replacements for these other brands, and honestly I don’t want to spend any more money on them because they will be broken before we really use them. This is not an issue with Elk and Friends mason jar cups. Mason jars are much more robust and much easier to find. Also, when used on the jar, the lids and sleeves provide protection. We have had 2 cups fall from about 36” height onto tile flooring - they both had their sleeves and lids on and neither of them broke, cracked or chipped. That is a huge win in my book. 4. Fun colors and matching lids and straws. The kids love to mix and match lids and straws for fun combinations of colors. 5. Well designed. I love the details that have gone into the design of these. The straws have built in stoppers so kids can’t yank the straw out of the cups. This can be a safety thing as much as a parent sanity helper. I received a bad eye injury when a kid yanked a plastic straw out of a cup which hit me in the eye. You know it’s bad when you can’t open your eye for a week and the optometrist says “Wow!” when they see the injury. I realize that the straw that come with these cups are silicone and much softer than plastic straw – so there is less chance of injuries – but it’s still a great feature to have the straw stopper. Also, these straws are tapered on the bottom to allow fluids to flow better. Brilliant! Note: The 12oz cups I ordered did not have straw stoppers like the straws that came with the 8oz cups. I passed on my request to the company and received a reply telling me that others have requested the same thing and that they are working on getting stoppers on the 12oz straw. This takes me to my next favorite note – Awesome customer service. They listen to customers. 6. Awesome customer service. I have had no issues with any of my orders, but when I was wanted to order the 12oz cups, they were out. I reached out to Elk and Friends company to inquire about when the 12oz would be available. The owner responded very quickly, warmly yet professionally, and has kept me updated on the availability. I think we are friends now :) I have no doubt that if there was some fluke with any order, it would be promptly addressed, and the customer would be made better than whole. They have also gone the extra mile to follow up on my orders to make sure all was well. Who does that anymore?? Its companies like these I love supporting. 7. They make baby food jars too. We bought some years back for making and freezing baby food. No babies now but we still use the little jars for a variety of things. They and the lids have held up perfectly over the years. These Elk and Friends cups have been a lifesaver for us - a true godsend. The kids love them, and we are so happy to find these perfect kids cups. These will be my new favorite item to buy for baby gifts. We don’t have any cons. These cups really have been that good for us. I read a review where someone took a star away because they aren’t leak proof. This has not been an issue for us at all - not even a concern. Yes, if the cup is full and on its side, liquid may leak out from the straw hole. That should be expected since that happens with pretty much every straw and lid situation. On top of that, these cups aren’t advertised as being leak proof with the straw lid so don’t let that deter you. The other lids without the holes have been leak proof for us. All in all, these cups have saved us countless spills and water and other messes. They are a little more expensive than buying cheap plastic cups, but they are healthier, more durable, and much more versatile. Plus they can be your forever cups. Definitely worth the money! My only regret is that I didn’t get these sooner. Learn from my mistakes and just go with these mason jar cups from Elk and Friends!!

Perfect for plastic-free drink ware
I have been researching different cups without plastic. These came up as a suggestion and I’m so happy with them! Here are the pros: • The lids screw and have a silicone ring, so no lids popping off. • Very few parts and all are easy to clean. • plastic free • essentially leak-free, the straw does allow a bit of liquid to spill, but it is drops compared to other cups that leave puddles. • fun colors • easy to replace with jars We were hesitant about having glass cups for an 18 month old and 4 year old, but the silicone sleeve protects well. If for some reason a glass does break, it is super easy to replace it with another jar. The only con (and why it’s 4 stars instead of 5): One of the glasses did break after over a month of use. Upon inspection, the glass had an imperfection and was the cause for breakage. So I will thoroughly inspect the jars next time we buy, but this is definitely not a deterrent from purchasing!

Great cups but not indestructible
I really enjoy these glasses, we’ve had them for two weeks and my 3.5 yr old broke one. It fell from the dinner table to the tile floor and shattered. The silicone sleeve and the lid I think kept it from going everywhere so I only had three tiny pieces that escaped. Overall they are great, but they are still glass and the silicone sleeves only protect it so much. It isn’t leak proof but it the design does keep spills from being excessive when they do happen.

Our family loves these and will continue to purchase more, for sure!
I have purchased from this brand many times and will continue to do so! I trust this brand as their materials are food-grade silicone, glass, stainless steel, etc. Personally, I toss the rubber ring and the silicone grip on the outside because we don't use them, but they come with everything you need to make the cup almost leak-proof and easy for kiddos to use! You get a lid that has a hole for sipping or a straw as well as a lid that does not have a hole in case you want to fill a cup with snacks, etc. I love how versatile these are! We will be purchasing more, for sure!

Toddler Glass Cups
I love the colors of them, I ended up throwing all of the plastic cups for my toddler away after I received these. With the straw in, there’s leaking but nothing extreme. They are on the heavy side if you’re used to plastic but my toddler really seems to like these. As any glass container it doesn’t keep it super cold for hours, but I can say I feel better if he drinks out of it a day later because it’s not sitting on a plastic container.

Broken after one wash…
LOVE the smaller size. They’re indestructible. Put a large cup on the top rack of the dishwasher (did a low cycle without heat dry) to find it broken. I only wash kids cups and plates together so it wasn’t up against anything else to cause the breakage (not large loads). Not sure if this was just a bad egg but super disappointed.

The glass is nice and thick so will be able to withstand a few drops here and there. The silicone is also great quality, and the colours are lovely, photos are very accurate. For the price, this set is great value.

This size is perfect for my growing toddler. We make a lot of smoothies and drink a lot of milk and these cups are easy to clean and rarely spill.

we bought this as we thought it would be a good option for our toddler's milk bottle. the glass should be less toxic than a plastic bottle and it would offer the option of warming up the milk. however, we have used it for less than 2 months before it broke by itself while we were warming up the milk this morning. not sure if it's due to the quality of the glass, but the product does mention you could microwave safe in it. so please take note.

My eldest is 2.5 and I’m so annoyed I didn’t know about this brand before now, I hated all the plastic we were accumulating and wanted an alternative as we start weaning our second - the quality is fantastic.

I bought this because it appeared to be glass and medical grade silicon ( I’m trying to avoid plastic after all the media reports about plastic potentially accumulating in kids bodies from plastic containers). The product description on Amazon is unclear. It only mentions glass and silicon. When it arrived I was stunned the lid (including on the inside) is plastic so my son’s milk is in contact with plastic. The packaging box says the lid is plastic (see photo of box attached) but they don’t say that in their product description. I wouldn’t care if the outside was plastic if the liquid didn’t touch it, but what’s the point of using glass to avoid plastic if you have a plastic lid. I might as well just bought a plastic sippy cup which is cheaper and non-breakable. Thanks for nothing Elk and Friends. Update your product description.
