Yes, I believe so. I didn't use mine in this way though.

I have a 14 pro and it fits snugly so I don't think this product would be able to 'swallow' a 14 pro max with case, I'm afraid.

The lanyard is robust. It is long enough to hang around the neck in comfort, ie. not too tight. Yes, photos are the same as without any case.
