A Fun End
It has an ending, a rare ending for a series which does not result in the death of the main character. The only drawback is James Robinson's disjointed storytelling style. He will end on a cliffhanger and then not go back to the scene until two or three issues later. However there are no loose ends to the series. The follow up series, The Shade, is all right, but Robinson has difficulty making a story about a near-immortal overpowered character gripping. Sandman managed this by having the main character of certain arcs be someone other than Dream. Often we in this tale we simply have The Shade showing up, killing everyone, without breaking a sweat. It does get a little samey.

Looks awesome!
For $40 I got 1400+ pages.Looks even better than I imagined. You can say people spend time drawing this.Covers are in place (hello Spawn).Overall great value. Haven't read yet though.

The greatest Comic Book series of the 90's
Most likely you are here because you read book 1 and needed this one. The only minus is Tony Harris leaves and does Covers.

Inconsistent Cover with Compendium One
Great story and art. We all know that. The cover was not great. The first book had a beautiful cover with a matte finish. This one has a not as good drawing of Jack with a glossy finish. The books don’t match very well. There’s only two books in this set, DC could have tried to make them match better!

Great conclusion
Not only collects the rest of the series, but also a fantastic amount of extra content.
