Husqvarna Wood Splitting Axe - Large

Bought this for my son in the scouts. Well balanced, easy to swing. Comfortable in the hand. Forged n durable. Worth the price. Buy once n cry once.

Head is a good weight for what I would call a hybrid splitter. Not really a Maul, but not a felling axe either. The wood grain on the handle was going in the correct direction which is nice as you always are taking a gamble when purchasing sight unseen. Comes with a nice leather mask, and the handle is unfinished so you can apply boiled linseed oil or whatever you wish to use. My only reason I didn't give it the full 5 stars is I do wish the cutting edge was a little longer.

The steel is high quality, but the handle almost immediately fractured at my first attempt to split some firewood.

Breathtaking design. Sturdy axe. Hacking up burnt California trees with this sucker and it hasn’t broken with weeks of straight working this bad boy. If this one ever had an issue I’d buy another in a heart beat.

Quality of this product is great. Husqvarna makes great stuff. However this mail is kind of a strange middle size. It is too big and heavy for one handed kindling chopping, but not nearly as effective at splitting large pieces of wood as my larger full sized splitting maul. I thought it would be a great middle ground, but realistically I never use it. If you’re looking to split big wood, I’d get the larger heavier version.
