Got it just today and decided to prepare dal. Though it took much longer to cook the taste was great. Afterwards when I was washing it, I noticed the ring created due to the heat at the bottom, revealing the original red color of clay pots. Now, the doubt, the company claims that this black color is not a coating but a way of craftsmanship that gives the product the black color. But if thats true the inner layer should also have been black right!? Other than that the product is fine. I hope it's durable, will know after a months of use.

Its good but its overpriced too…when I went to Kerala I brought this for ₹150..and try to buy brown colour..even after washing black pots leaves strange odour!!

I am a very old user of Clay pots, and this is also a second purchase! I always use clay pots to start with a very low flame and also never put the empty pot in the flame! They are good in soups and for boiling items ! Not found great for long stir fry ! And also never store the pot empty after use, always put some water so that the pot do not become extremely dry in our current Indian summer ! BUT !! This recent use has not been very stable, in one of my latest use, I was cooking mutton, like literally boiling it, after stir frying in a aluminum wok and later moving to clay pot for boil ! But I could feel some burnt kinda smell , although nothing looked like sticked in the base! But later the conditions of the bottom literally look like kind of scratched and also burnt ! I always use silicon or widen product for stirring the dish, not sure what has been the issue ! I wish that if seller could see the review and get back to me !
