These are a stainless steel mesh for keeping insects out while air to flow. We had a wasp nest in the wall (entered through an air brick), killed the nest then used this over all our airbricks - works a treat. Going to use them where we've closed our chimneys off for the same reason.Work well anywhere you need to keep insects or leaves out but still need air or water to flow.
