Sewer line solution
This is a fantastic product. It works really really good. I used it several months ago and the roots have not grown back. I highly recommend this rather than digging up the sewer line.

Used according to directions this stuff WORKS
Once a year our sewer drain will clog with tree roots. We have to call the rooter folks to come clean the pipe out. Replacing the pipe where the roots get in is expensive, so I thought to try this product to keep the roots from growing in the pipe. This product contains a copper sulfate chemical composition that is toxic to roots without being caustic to the PVC pipe, preventing roots from growing through the cracks and joints of the pipe. It is designed to be poured into a commode (toilet) in a 1/2lb increment and then flushed into the drain system. The contents are toxic, so precautions are mandated in handling. I wore safety goggles and rubber gloves to be on the safe side when administering. Recommendations are to apply every six months, and at 7 months I'm still not seeing any root incursion. In our application I chose to pour this directly into the cleanout access which is closer to the area where we normally experienced blockage. I do plan to add another application now to keep the preventive measures in effect. At $20 this is a bargain across the board. Our blockages ALWAYS happened on a weekend where we had to pay a premium to have the rooter fellow come out after hours. That never cost less than $200 dollars a visit and of course we could not use the sinks, shower or toilets when the pipe was stopped up.FOLLOW UP: Consistent use of this product has given us the first full year without having to call in the rooter guys! It works AWESOME! Highly recommended. I'm using this as described on the product label and it is doing a fantastic job. I know for a fact that my drain line has places where roots regularly penetrate and while using this product we've not experienced a single instance!

Valuable
This product works great! Plumber approved! Helps destroy roots that get into your septic tank by breaking them down and killing them. Easy to use, just dump a cup into the toilet bowl once a month and flush! That’s how my plumber recommended using it! I’ve had to have my septic tank cleaned out 2 times now, so he recommended this stuff! Great price. Cheaper than having to have a septic tank company come out! This is preventative maintenance. Works great!

Won me over!! - Not so much - Update 12/1/18
I originally purchased Robetic Root Kill 1lb for $20 @ Home Depot. Ouch. It didn't work. Which I found out halfway through treatment time, that you need 1lb per 50 feet of sewer line. I have at least 100 ft. I had started researching on Amazon other products and stumbled across this.I know where my clean out pipe is, so I dumped 1/2 bottle which is about 50 feet to where the tree and roots are. Then went upstairs to my toilet closest to the main line and dumped the rest in the toilet. Flushed about 3 times. I let it sit for 8 hours. My basement did have some water back up when we resumed water usage. But a day later, the clean out is clear and bone dry! (Before water was visible in the clean out when I added the root kill)And 3 showers have been taken and still no back up. This product is amazing!! I have a friend who just had the same problem as me and she has been buying Zep.What is upsetting is I had JUST used a water jet about 3 months ago and thought I had the lines cleared of roots. But most likely what I thought was a bend in the pipe was most likely a gob of roots. If I had this I would have treated the line right away. But I will ALWAYS have this on hand for seasonal treatment. And this is coming from someone who has tried everything out there.UPDATE:My sewer is backing up again and this time it's really bad, even the clean out has water coming up. You would think after using this my sewer wouldn't back up THIS bad. I was at True Value yesterday and picked up a 2lb of Rooto Root Kill. This time I dumped 1/2 lb and flushed 3 times. Only I'm not even able to do that without it backing up. So I waited an hour, dumped half in and flushed 3 times. But my third half dump. I did 2 flushes and checked, the water is backed up. I dumped the remainder and will wait 30 mins to finish out the flushing. Will update. But I think I will buy another container and treat again in a week. Crazy for something that should kill roots, should work the first time. After all this. I'm wishing I rented the industrial snake from Home Depot.

a must for homeowners with large trees
We have a 40 year old (very large) Ash tree in our front yard, close to our sewer pipes. It costs thousands of dollars if roots invade and damage your underground sewer line between the house and the city line. Even with that homeowner coverage, the damages and repairs to your lawn and trees is devestating, which is why, for many years , every fall and early spring when the roots are growing the most actively, I have used Root Killer . Our Sewer line stays clear and our tree continues to thrive. No home owner with large trees near sewer lines, and other underground utilities should neglect this precautionary step. I was a licensed insurance agent for many years and witnessed the devestation for homeowners who did NOT take this precaution, suffer the and damage caused by underground roots.

Cleaned out Roots
Worked wonderfully! I had what I believe to be a slight blockage and it cleared it out within a day.
