Great preteen self-esteem book.
'Sticker Girl' centers around Martina. Her and her family move from San Diego to LA. Martina is quite shy, so when she changes schools, she finds it difficult to make new friends. One of her favorite things to do is collect and play with stickers. When her father comes back from a trip, he gives Martina a unique sheet of stickers. Martina soon discovers they are magical and come to life when peeled off the sheet. One of the first stickers she peels off is a snappy cupcake named 'Craig'. Craig and the other stickers help Martina pull out of her shell and make friends at school. When I was a preteen I was also obsessed with stickers. Back then there wasn't as many things for kids to do and collecting stickers was a fun way to pass the time. Because of this, I connected with Martina instantly.I just really loved this book. It really has a lot going for. The cover is beautiful and in the back is a copy of the 'magical' sticker sheet. I also love that this is a diverse book, as Martina and her family are hispanic. The story accurately described how painful it can be to be a shy child. The prose was vivid and easy to read. The characters were wonderful. The human characters were genuine and the 'sticker' characters were hilarious and very fun. 'Craig' was funny and cranky and cute.'Sticker Girl' is a fun and wonderful way for preteens to learn about self-esteem and self-reliance.

Magically Overcoming Shyness
I received this book from the publisher at no cost.Martina has just moved to a new school and is super shy. When her father returns from a business trip bearing gifts for the whole family, he brings her back a sheet of stickers. Her whole life revolves around stickers, so this pleases Martina to no end. These are no ordinary stickers but are wonderfully magical! The stickers help her overcome her shyness and become more confident in her life. As the stickers come to life, they encourage her to make friends and be more courageous. The story is very accessible for children that are just mastering chapter books and it has a very positive message about overcoming fears. I loved it when Martina realizes that she doesn't need the stickers to have friends and she becomes secure in the fact that she doesn't have to be shy anymore. This is the beginning to a new and promising series. The adorable artwork that goes along with the story is a wonderful addition.

Great book many can relate to
This is a great book that I feel many people can relate to. I for one am not an extrovert and can understand the struggles that come behind it when surrounded by them. I think many teenagers or younger would enjoy this book. The plot and character development is beyond amazing and I hope to read more of Janet's upcoming stories.Cheers
