Another great read in the Inked Love series
The Rule Breaker takes you through Luna and Oliver's story. Both characters we've seen in other books in the series, and so I was really excited to read this.Luna is a confident woman but struggling with the separation of her parents. Oliver is a recovering alcoholic and is desperately lonely. They end of living together and sparks fly. I have to admit, Luna was very different to the third-party view I had of her from previous books. But actually that made it more believable; it's often the outgoing people that are hiding their insecurities. My highlights from this novel is the same-sex couple representation with Luna's parents. It was a completely normal (a.k.a. dysfunctional) relationship and usually lesbians - in mainstream fiction, at least - never feel honest or real to me. As per usual in Crystal's books, the protagonist have a steamy connection and their chemistry is palpable. Her novels are very easy to read and always enjoyable. The only downside to this story is that it feels very familiar... I don't know whether it's because I've read all of Crystal's novels or whether this just wasn't her strongest story. But, it almost felt like I've read this story before, and this one isn't as good. The previous Inked Love book has a similar 'forbidden' romance plot, and both romances aren't really 'forbidden' because nobody really disapproves. *SPOILER* So it's a bit of a anti-climax when their relationships are revealed. I would have also like to see more on Oliver's 'rock bottom' and road to recovery as we begin the book once he has been sober for a while.Overall, it's definitely worth a read - and you should 100% devour the entire series (as well as the "Inked Hearts" and "Dangerous Noise" series')!I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Drunk in love
Oliver is alcoholic who is only a few weeks into sobriety, he still feels the call to party, drink and sleep around. Now he has a distraction in Luna who he's known for over a decade.Luna is best friends with Daisy who is Olivers younger sister. Lunas mothers are going through a separation so she's decided to stay with Oliver and his dad.Things heat up from there but honestly I found it a bit hard to get into, I wanted to care and be interested but the whole story was a bit meh. I did finish it but I wanted more from the ending. On the bright side I am interested in Daisys story, which I'll hopefully read soon.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved it.
I enjoyed reading this so much. I got to know these characters in a previous book and it was nice that they have their own story.Oliver is broken and Luna is hurting, and it is inevitable they get together. The attraction builds up steadily and eventually takes your breath away.I absolutely loved it, I love Crystal’s books and can never get enough. I always end up falling for the heroes.

Loved it
Yet another fantastic read by Crystal. Love the inked love boys, he'll I've love all the series. It was a journey as with love there are always road blocks to over come. Couldn't put it down. Oliver has a troubled past, he likes his sister's best friend how can this come out right!

I'm loving inked love
So we've seen Luna and Oliver a fair bit in the previous story in the series. Oliver always with a drink in his hand and Luna the sassy lady who appears strong and owns her personality. It was great to delve further into their world's. Oliver is finally admitting he has a drink problem and is struggling with sobriety whilst keeping everything to himself to try and do it alone. Luna feels like her world has come crashing down around her. She's just found out that her mum is having an affair. Needing some space she heads to the Flynn house where she is practically a permanent fixture due to being friends with Daisy, Oliver's sister. It was great to see the softer more vunerable side to Luna as she came across as quite tough and no nonsense in the last book. I really felt for Oliver. He's been dealing with his parents split, a junkie mum and then his sister's eating disorder and he's been doing it the only way he can to numb the pain. Now it's all come to a head he's also showing a much more vunerable side whilst still being the same brooding nirvana loving protective big bro. As usual with Crystals books there is a fair bit of sauce but it's not over the top and doesn't distract from the story. I'm enjoying how Crystals opening up alot more trigger topics in these books. She always does it in a careful and tatseful way. A good addition to the series.

Raising above the fire and ash
Oliver Flynn is a damaged by his parent's divorce, and a reckless bad boy with an alcohol problem. After the incident happened, Oliver promised he would get sober while still living at home. Enter Luna Locke, a punk rock loving, fashionista who is having a hard time dealing with her parent's divorce, while also fighting the urge not to jump on her best friend's older brother for the ride of her life. When Oliver's kid sister's best friend and all around hot chick, Luna needs a place to hide away, Oliver finds he can't stop thinking about, her and wanting her even though he has a vow of celibacy hanging over his head. He wants her but also wants to be there for her through her parent's divorce, while remaining sober. While struggling to remain sober, Oliver finds a new vice calling his name, his little sister's sexy best friend, Luna. While he wants to stay the course and succed in his promises to his dad and his sister, Luna pops into Oliver's world and home changing his whole perspective on life. Luna needs space from her parent's divorce, but, she wants absolutely no space from the sinfulness that is Oliver Flynn. Moving into Oliver and Daisy's house does help build her friendship with Oliver and keeps him sober all at the same time, but Oliver' has a secret and he is afraid when it comes out Luna will see him as the disappointment he feels he is to everyone. Can Luna and Oliver fight their feelings for each other or will they follow their hormones straight into love?Crystal yet again blew me out of the water with her amazing story telling skills! I find Oliver's struggles with sobrity to be refreshingly true as well ask his feelings of disappointment in himself and how he thinks other perceive him. Luna's ability to adjust to the plethora of difficult situations coming at her at one time, really shows a maturity level most eighteen year olds and some older adults still do not possess. I love how this story while it is a slow burn keeps you enticed with all the hot flirting! I loved the recognition from Oliver that while he wanted to put Luna first, he had to work through his own demons too in order to be a better man. Absolutely amazing story!

Oliver and Luna try their hardest to keep their hands off each other.Oliver is a trying to win the war with alcohol but it's hard. Then Luna moves in because her parents are divorcing. He starts to feel lighter with Luna around. When then get together he feels like a hypocrite because he didn't like it when his sister started dating his best friend, and now he is dating her best friend.A brilliantly written story with excellent characters and a happy ending guaranteed

A great read
I liked this couple. At times it seemed a repeat of the prior book with the sister’s best friend instead of brother’s best friend but overall enjoyable. Much more depth to the hero than I thought there would be.

Crystal Kaswell, as she somewhat acknowledges in her author’s note, is one of the better indie romance authors when it comes to having a theme beyond the usual romance tropes. This story explores a difficult issue and doesn’t try to give us an easy answer: How do you know if a love is forever? Why does love sometimes survive all sorts of adversity, then quietly fade away? How do you reconcile the reality of divorce with the ideals of romance?Kaswell also excels at fashioning imperfect and believable characters. Much of the characterization revolves around the healing process of two children of divorce, but it delves into alcoholism and feminist issues as well. And the great thing about Kaswell is that she does theme and characterization without overwrought or long-winded angst. Substance and realism without the emotional trauma that some indie authors seem determined to put you through (I love an emotional story, but I don’t want to cry buckets and have to make an emergency meeting with my therapist during a romance novel, personally). The hero, Oliver, is a wonderfully imperfect “bad boy,” and the heroine, Luna, is intense and knows what she wants and goes after it, but has started to lose her confidence after an ex told her that she is too difficult, “too much.”I liked the nicely feminist author’s note about women constantly being told we are too intense, “too much,” not just by men, but by other women. But I would add to that (from my own experience): all you intense, bad-ass women, don’t get impatient in the professional world with women who have self-confidence issues. Let’s support each other, regardless of whether we are sufficiently bad-ass for feminist standards. Yeah, I’m talking to y’all in the South Florida legal field. End rant.Anyway, there is a bit of a forbidden aspect to this romance, but I would say that it more closely resembles a friends-to-lovers trope. The getting-to-know you parts very believably painted the picture of these two falling in love, and the sex scenes were passionate and creative. I would say that I would have liked just a little more romance in the sex scenes themselves — it was appropriate that these friends began to fall in love before having sex, and the crazy sexual tension appropriately led to some spicy scenes, but I like a tad more mushiness in a few of the sex scenes. I liked that the romance was very believable and not at all rushed.I didn’t have time to turn in my typo corrections before the book went live, but I compared the ARC version to the KU version and saw that a few of the more glaring typos were corrected. Not all of them, but even in professionally edited and published works, I always find a few typos. Regardless, you can believe me when I say that this is one of the few indie authors with a good editor, even though she’s one of those who are trying to get away from the hyphenated adjectives (I know that’s the latest trend, but I think a story reads more professional with “next-level effort,” “in-control man,” etc.). I wanted to cry a bit when I saw “the Flynn’s place” instead of “the Flynns’ place,” though. Unless Mr. Flynn is a Scottish laird, there’s no such thing as “the Flynn.” “Fail entirety” made me wince, too. There is also a scene where Oliver puts his shirt on, then is suddenly shirtless again, and Luna strangely waffles over whether her jumpsuit is wine-colored or plum-colored.Crystal Kaswell is one of the few romance authors whose books I always read, and she seems to grow as a writer with each book rather than becoming stale or losing her touch. I believe I’ve read all of her works and enjoyed every one of them, and this one is no exception.
