Mantis Laser Academy - Standard Training Kit

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my son. We recently opened it and set it up. Set up is very straightforward with the app. Pleasantly surprised! Worth the money. We both used it to practice our shooting and had fun while doing so. Great if you can't get to the range. Will continue to use and enjoy.

I've got about 3 hours in with training with this system. Works pretty well for the most part. As others have mentioned, the tripods could be a bit better - not a deal breaker though. Occasionally I have to futz with it because it won't recognize the target. And then it occasionally just starts recording shots when my firearm is in the holster. So I just wait it out and then restart the drill.Overall, I think it is a useful system with some minor issues.

I researched the different products for dry fire practice and finally ordered this one. Once you download the app, it's fairly simple to set up and it walks you through the setup and calibration of the laser. I suggest going through the calibration several times with a few practice sessions in between just to fine tune the calibration and get the most accurate scores. The laser didn't work at first until I worked out that the tiny batteries were upside down and then it worked like a charm. The kit I bought came with small and medium targets and I appreciate the ability to fine tune my aim to smaller targets as I get better. Definitely worth the money! I would buy again!

So far so good . Works well with both my 9mm. Software is user friendly. Challenges are great training. I wish we had the targets for all the training challenges, sure where to buy those other targets. For that reason and the fact that the laser came with dead batteries I gave it 4 stars.

Made me a better shooter! My friends love to use it and since then multiple friends have also purchased one! 9mm training rounds are easy to find and would recommend getting an extra and printing off a second “hunt” target for duel hunt mode. My wife even likes playing with it! I haven’t been able to find a good one in .223/5.56 that works well yet but still looking for one!

Great product to practice my dry fire skills, between range days. It is very quick to set up and it stores away really well, when not in use. the app that goes with the kit is pretty accurate and it logs all of your sessions for easy access. Overall a great product!

This product is amazing! I am 62 years old and I have purchased my first firearm. I live in the high desert so we have extreme cold and extreme hot weather. Not always suitable to go target practicing in. This product has trained me to become a better shooter at the range as well as saved so much money and ammunition. I highly recommend this product whether you are a new owner of a firearm or a long time owner of a firearm. It has multiple target practicing modes that you use with your phone. You cannot spend money on a better deal than this. I highly recommend it to all firearm owners.

Don’t confuse this with the MantisX products, this only a review of Laser Academy Training Kit.I really hope this helps someone bc there are a lot popular YouTubers who endorse this product. Do not waste your time or money on the Laser Academy from Mantis. The laser training academy is very sensitive to any movement of the camera, and causes immediate recalibration, and very frustrating to get it right. Once it finally gets calibrated and you think you’re good to go, the camera all of sudden either doesn’t pickup the control target or the objective target, or worse, won’t pick up the laser on trigger pull, despite being able to see the laser hit the targets. On top being sensitive to movement, it is also sensitive to any light. The glossy finish of their targets cause glare from any light source, and is yet another obstacle for the software to pick up their targets. Even tried with the lights off in the basement, and the glare of the tv that was on an adjacent wall was causing issues. It’s bad enough that they make you pay for proprietary targets, but poor choice of gloss finishes just causes problems with camera software. Additionally the targets that come with the Laser Academy are too small to be of any real value, so have to buy the bigger if you want any hope of success with this product. I gave this a real shot for a month, but this is just not worth the money. Really glad I bought from Amazon bc I doubt Mantis would’ve taken this back after that much time if purchased direct.
