Pengo Auger Screw Bit Tri Flow Carbide #135090

If its says PENGO its the right stuff for drilling post holes in difficult ground. My ground is hardpan about 12" down and very difficult to drill into. Ordinary "farm" augers wear out in about 5 holes or don't work at all. My first Pengo lasted for over 300+ holes and it wasn't even the carbide variety. My tractor has been modified to provide down pressure on the three point hitch and I can really put the hurt on an auger. If you're drilling clay or dirt you don't need one of these and this tip design doesn't work well in clay unless you have down pressure. BUT IF you have large rocks and hard pan you have found the right stuff with PENGO auger components, they are worth every dime of the cost and will provide years of trouble free service. This bitt is AWESOME. Have had one on my John Deere Frontier PHD 200 for 5 years and finally wore it out. This starter bitt has 3 agressive and TOUGH carbide tips at the tip of each screw. I've used this on flat shale rock and in hard red clay. The only thing it won't go through is solid rock. It costs more than the other bitts, but i'll tell you it's ABSOLUTELY worth it if you have hundreds of holes to drill in tough areas. If you're only drilling in sand or loose soil this bitt will be over-kill for what you need, probably be better off with the bitt without the carbide tips.I usually like having extra parts on hand for my implements, but you won't need a spare of this bitt on the shelf!
