Paired with SmartThings - exceeds expectations (Same product as Zooz)
This review is based on deploying this product with Smartthings. This product has tremendous flexibility, and has the potential to provide a chime and siren with 10 different tones and 3 different volume levels. It can mount anywhere and it uses two CR2450 batteries. It is not an extremely loud alarm. If a loud alarm is one of your top priorities. I suggest you look at the Aeotec Gen 5 Z-Wave Siren. The Dome, identical to the Zooz, has the new Z-wave Plus 500 chip for increased performance, and can be setup in SmartThings to allow multiple devices to use the chime, with each capable of playing different tones. I have mine configured to play one chime tone when the Garage door is opened, via multi sensor on door, and another when the mail delivers, via open/close Sensor. It also allows you add it to routines as a siren. The siren is configured with its own tone and the volume level can be different from the chime.SmartThings Specific info: The device works with SmartThings, but it requires a custom device handler. The good news is one available on the SmartThings member site. When added to your Smartthings hub with this device handler, it can function as both a siren and chime. The chime is activated by including it in Smartapps as a dimmable light (when sensor activated turn light on), You select one of the 10 tones by setting the dimmer level (10% - 100% - every ten percent plays a different tone). If you aren't super familiar with custom device handlers and how to use one, i'll provide some helpful instructions.Note: I'm including the following info to help others evaluate the products complete capabilities on SmartThings. Without this info many will likely feel the product falls short or may return the product:- Find Dome Chime device handler code and copy code.- using a PC signon to your SmartThings account (should see My Locations, My Hubs, My Devices Etc)- Select My Device Handlers, and click 'Create New Device Handler'- At next screen select 'From Code' tab and paste the copied device Handler code- select 'create', then in the upper right select 'Publish' 'for me'This has just created the new Device Handler. Now you need to go into devices:- open the Dome chime- Select edit (Dome Chime or name you initially added it with to Smartthings via mobile app).- change type to Dome Smart Chime and save. You have now created the Device Handler and have configured the Dome device to use it.This product is almost identical to the Zooz Chime, and the required configuration is the same. I now own both and wrote a similar review for the Zooz Chime, with instructions on how to create the custom device Handler. There were a few good question I answered on the Zooz review regarding the setup, and these may prove helpful. For addition information I suggest reading the review I wrote (Jeff) on the Zooz Chime and take a look at the questions and answers (see review at: http://a.co/iuVjghp ).Hope this helps for those considering product for Smartthings use.

No Support
May be a great device, but unfortunately I'll never know. Got it, got the device handlers all set up, got the device set up and added to my automations with no problem at all. Set it to go off if any of my water sensors detected a leak. Sat for a few weeks, and then we had a leak. It didn't go off. I did some troubleshooting, removed, re-connected, but nothing. No sounds. When I go into the device in SmartThings I can't even manually set it off. Maybe I got a dead one, I thought, I'll contact support. Opened a ticket, they replied within hours with a link that told how to set up an automation to use the siren. I responded and told them that was the same page I used to set it up originally, and that the problem is that it makes no sound. No response. Updated the ticket a few days later to see if they had any additional info yet, no response. I've now contacted them 4 times over 25 days, with nothing but silence. I've got other Dome products that work fine, but after seeing how they stand behind their products, will be buying no more.

Good Device with somewhat disappointing chime sounds
This small z-wave plus device easily configured with Vera. It is not loud enough to function as a primary siren for home security. Several of these can function successfully as the only doorbell chime in a home. The devices primary use is to signal alerts of a home automation system. I find it very useful for this purpose. But the chime choices seem to be taken from the electronic doorbell my grandma found amusing 30 years ago. Dome using sounds that can be found on a modern smartphone would make this device more attractive to use in a smart home.In addition to siren, a better device would have 1) A variety of attractive short duration sounds, and 2) Long duration non-emergency non-musical sounds. Apple has spent plenty of R&D designing sounds for iOS, Dome simply needed to follow what smart phone makers have implemented.I would pay more for a device that had the option to be powered externally. This device uses CR123 batteries with a claimed life of three years. This choice was likely made to reduce the size of the unit. I would prefer AA in a larger unit, especially with no option of external power.

Works GREAT with Vera!
I just installed this with my existing Vera system and it went very smoothly and is exactly what I wanted. To install it with Vera, I had to tell Vera I was adding a "generic Z-Wave device", but after that it was perfect. It recognized that it was a Dome Siren, and immediately added two objects to my dashboard: siren and chime. The siren is simply on/off, and can be manually triggered from the dashboard or linked to triggers. It's loud enough to be heard through a solid door 20 feet away, but I'm considering getting a second one for the upstairs. Or maybe I just need to tinker with settings to see if there's a louder volume options. But the best part is the chimes. The "chime" device has 10 small buttons on the dashboard, each with a different chime like a ding, a claxon, etc. So I wrote a scene that is triggered by any of my doors and windows opening, and attached it to the chime so that I have a simple ding to let me know something got opened. It's not too loud to startle anyone.I'll update this as I get to use it more, and will try to comment on the battery life.

Exactly what I was looking for - and working great!
Great little ZWave siren/chime/media player. I bought three of these (one for each floor of my home) and am quite pleased with them so far. They look and feel of very good quality, and work exactly as expected. SmartThings pairing was a breeze as I took the advice of others and installed the correct 'Device Handler' into the ST IDE prior to pairing, and as such, they paired and were correctly device discovered immediately with ALL features and functionality good to go. You can use different sounds for different events as it is recognized with 'media player' attributes, so just pick different sounds for different smart apps/events (their website has decent tutorials for all of this). They are certainly loud enough (even on low and medium volume levels) for door chimes and alerts if you use one per floor, but I could see this as being weak on volume if you tried to use only one for the an entire house, (but really, it's a small battery driven device, so what would you expect?). Overall, I am happy with the purchase, and would recommend them.

Basic product meets minimum expectations
It presents as a bit “cheap” for the price, both in terms of appearance and materials, and the chimes and alarm sounds are like video game noises from 20 years ago. Also, while it connected to my Wink Hub 2 very easily, it was a bit of a pain to have to go through the process of creating “robots” to make it respond to the door sensors (also from Dome) - and more importantly I had to go searching online to figure out how to do this; there was no guidance provided with the unit and it did not make a good first impression by connecting it and then finding out it does absolutely nothing without further set up. This should be a much more streamlined process with a default notification setting that can be changed for custom use. (In other words, when I connect it to the system, it should automatically have basic settings… e.g. to set off the alarm/siren when I arm it, and door chimes when I disarm it, and an option for no notifications at all…). In comparison the Dome door sensors set up easily, and the Wink control immediately let me set them up to provide the notifications with the Lookout app. More work needed on this product.
