Creativity At Its Best!
Awe! The relationship between Fiona and King brought little tingles to my heart. I loved it! It reminded me of my stepdad and me. He said I took away he right of not dealing with a little girl. I just warmed my way into his heart and he was hooked! LOLThis author is on point when it comes to entertaining the hell out of you with back to back action. And I read it up like an action junkie should! What a wonderful creative mind this author has.************************ lil' bit of a spoiler ************************I'm completely disappointed that the author is bringing forth a relationship with Rook and Queen because, it would have been so cool had the author put Queen into a relationship where the guy didn't have the skills she has and she was the protector in the relationship. And why is it a must for the only female on an all guy team to hook up with one of them? So far in each book I've read that's similar to this one, (completely different authors), it's the exact same female in the exact same predicament. Guess its time to change genre's. (>.<)Anyway...Think... 'Salt'. She was a bada$$ chic who would have killed anyone and laid down her life for her husband, (the sexy nerdy type), if given the chance. That type of story is still unique to me because it's rarely told.Instead the author gives a love story that's been told a million times:Guy: "Oh we are on the same team and I want you."Chic: "Oh I want you too but I'll keep it to myself."Guy: "Oh no, I'll never be able to tell you I want you."Chic: "Oh no, I should have told you I wanted you when I had the chance ...blah blah...blah."If a romance has to be tossed in the middle of a kick a$$ action thriller (which seems to be a must) then at least make it different; Rook and a hybrid Neanderthal, now that would have been interesting. (0.o ). I kid you not! That really would have been interesting. And yes, I'm still anti-romance at the moment. lol. The more I try to avoid romance the more it slaps me in the face! Ouch!!! (>.< )Of course the hubby says, since blonde's are every man's Kryptonite, the Neanderthal would never stand a chance. LOLIf anyone knows of kick a$$ action thrillers without romantic sentiments creeping into the story, please let me know? ^~^

Tons of Action! Now onward to the Novellas!
I waited for the paperback of Threshold to come out and then for the Kindle price to drop to match the PB price. Then I jumped on this Chess Team thriller! I loved it! It has all the action and characters I have come to love reading about. Jeremy Robinson does not disappoint. Now I am looking forward to reading ALL the Chess Team novelllas. When the next Chess Team novel comes out I am not sure IF I can wait a whole year for the price drop. I might just have to SUCK it up and pay the St. Martin's price of $14.99 (the only other time I have paid that much for an e-book was for Stephen King's 11/22/63 ).At first I was a little worried that the introduction of Fiona Lane (King's 12 yr old foster daughter) might cause Jeremy to water down the action in Threshold. Similiar to the effect young children had on Matt Reilly's Jack West Jr. stores like The Five Greatest Warriors . The Jack West Jr. stories are more "PG-13" rated stories as compared to Scarecrow Returns which is more "R" rated. Well, I wrote Jeremy and expressed my concern and he replied "Don't worry, give Threshold a shot". And I am glad I did, all my concerns went out the window with the TONS (literally) of action displayed in Threshold. Is the action over the top? Heck yes, WAY over the TOP! But if you crave non-stop action then this thriller is for you.

Buckle up
Threshold is a real thrill ride of nonstop action with the highly secretive special ops Chess Team on a mission that chases the bad guys to so many locations you may feel the jet lag. This was my first read of Jeremy Robinson's books, and I look forward to reading his others. I really enjoy the fast pace, imaginative plots, and inventive antagonists in Threshold - there is a little bit for everyone, from myths of legend to history to diabolical giant creatures bent on destruction. The action is fast paced, never letting you rest since the team doesn't! The action is gritty and well written without so much military jargon that you get lost in the technical. Although not particularly believable, the story is highly entertaining and does make you think about the "what ifs". The plot is sufficiently complicated that you are held on the edge of your seat to find out what happens next, and yet the 'nexts' are not predictable. Highly recommended read, lots of action and surprises to keep you engaged. As a huge fan of David Goleman's Event series, I found the Jack Sigler Chess Team to be a similar style, although I prefer Goleman's character development as I really feel as if I know them and feel what they experience. If you are an Event series fan, or other military special ops/thriller, you will enjoy Threshold.

Thoroughly enjoyed it
This was certainly a great action story but what really drew me in was the wide canvas it was set against - the evolution and emergence of human society. It was an interesting and unusual perspective on this. Was there really a primordial language and why is there so much emphasis on words and speaking in a range of ancient text? I also enjoyed the ending which was unexpected but intriguing and left at least a couple of questions lingering in the air.
