Q: Have 6 rugs.washed gentle and air dry in dryer.four smaller rugs were ok, but both 24' x 47' had padding disintegrate.no heat. anyone else experience?

Yes! I actually hung mine to dry so no heat and they still disintegrate after washing. I really liked those rugs but sadly they have to go to recycling because they are useless now. Hope the manufacturer pays attention to feedback!

The rug stays fully. It feels so nice when I get out of the shower.

Q: About how much clearance under the door does this need? I live in an apartment so cutting the door isn't an option

This bathmat goes just outside the shower door. The mat with the pile is about 1/2" thick so there is no way it would fit under a shower door. Sitting it just outside the door to where you wouldn't have to step on the floor works fine, for me at any rate. In my own homes and the many hotels I have stayed at, the bath mat always lays just outside the shower. But in direct answer to your question, it will not fit under a shower door.
