I bought them for my bioethanol fire. It's a very good product with no smell at all and 1 litre burnt for about 3 hours but at £13 for 2 litres I'll be looking for something a bit more cost effective next time.

My wife and I decided to take the plunge and purchase an ethanol fuel heater. We chose this fuel on the recommendation of a friend. Must admit that the first time we used it there was an unusual odour but it must have been because the heater itself was new. After a while the odour disappeared and we enjoyed the additional heat source in our conservatory. It burned with a gentle bluish flame with occasional orange bursts and one filling lasted for about 3 and a half hours, long enough to take the winter chill away before the central heating kicked in. If you have a curious cat be aware that it may become mesmerised by the flickering flames and try to get too close. We are pleased with this purchase.

Recently I purchased a 'table top small fire-pit'. The way these work, and you might have seen themin restaurants, but they are placed on a table, with pieces of tempered glass at the sides, and they keepfood warm. I purchased 2 x 1 Litre bottles of this required fuel, which was far better value than buyingone single 1 Litre bottle. Reading up about this Premium Bioethanol Fuel, using the makers information say, "the fuel is 'Plant Derived', complies with uk law with added denaturants, low carbon footprint, and 96% purity for the cleanest and highest flames, and perfect for alcohol stoves, firepits, fireplaces, tiki torches".At the time of writing the fuel is available in 1 Litre, 2 Litre, 12 Litres and 24 Litres, and the makers GREEN HAVEN say that "1 Litre will last up to 4 hours on maximum heat, and up to 8 hours on minimum setting". I am more likely to have the heat setting on very low to keep food warm, especially when guests arrive, as we all love buffets, and in this country (UK), food will not stay warm for long.Thank You and great value product

I bought this in a bit of a hurry to try out a table top firepit. I should have delved a bit deeper into some of the more critical reviews. I know the lid needs to be child proof but I found this virtually impossible to open. I followed the graphic on the lid but after pressing the lid down it simply spun around making a clicking sound. I spent a decent amount of time on this becoming more and more annoyed. In the end I resorted to getting a pair of mole grips out of the shed and using these to squeeze the lid had and I did remove it in one piece. My concern is that people may become so frustrated with this they may end up breaking their way into the product in an unsafe manner or even eventually transfer it to another container.The bio ethanol itself is OK, it burns with a fairly small semi-luminous flame and at a guess the burn time is in keeping with similar fuels. Also although there is a smell its what you might reasonably expect from burning a pure fuel and is not unpleasant in my opinion. That lid is a problem though and this is not cheap for what it is.
