I bought these for photo purposes, but I was hoping to be able to use them for video as well. No chance. The fans are very loud and very necessary. Yes, I took one apart and disconnected the fan, because I thought I would be smart like that. Unfortunately, the thing got crazy hot and smelled as if it was burning within 5 minutes after disconnecting that fan. So much for "LED" lights not giving off heat. ;) If you just need something portable, affordable, and easy for indoor photography, these do work well. They are super bright and seem fairly durable. Just keep in mind that the fans really are loud. None of these reviewers are kidding about it.

Was very disappointed with the luminosity. I bought these because I thought I might be able to use these as a keylight for headshots but metering at 1/125, ISO 200, I can only shoot at like F2. I need to be metering at F8. So they are basically useless to me. And I have them turned all the way up.I have other softboxes that will meter at F8, but I have to make the ISO at 560, so I thought these might work to bring down my ISO. Guess I'll speedlight now. Another thing is that you are stuck with the LED. With my other softboxes you can replace the bulbs with higher wattage. You can't with these.

I'd like to give this a higher review, as the lights themselves are decent quality. Most of the softboxes of this variety use CFL bulbs and are much larger, but since these are LED, their profile is a lot smaller.The MAJOR downside, though, is that they are LOUD. If you want to do video of any kind, there is no way you can have these in the same room. These are strictly for photography, which makes me less versatile. P

I found these difficult and awkward to assemble, definitely needed a second person to assist. I would never be able to quickly re-assemble on my own if I had to take these anywhere. I wish the directions provided had been a little more detailed than what was provided. Even my husband, who's a whiz at putting together just about anything, found these confusing to begin with but eventually figured it out. The fan was noisier than I was expecting but not that big of a deal for me. The lighting did an OK job for my needs, but I was a little disappointed overall with this product. Will probably replace down the road with a better quality product.

Pros: a great light set for the price, feels durable, everything works as described (minus - video - see con), the colors look great in both on a camcorder and camera, and it's really nice to have a good range for dimming.Con: I would NOT recommend this for any video work unless you are doing voice overs for absolutely everything. The fans are far too loud to be acceptable - I can hear it from the other side of my 850 sq ft apartment. Sadly, I had to return it for this reason as I would be using it mostly for video work.

For the price it is a great deal. The fans are a bit noisy, but I am able to overlook this because of the price. The stands are lightweight, so I use heavier stands to shoot interviews for documentary film production. I didn't expect that the stands would be heavy duty for the price I paid. I rate it 4 stars based on value and price. For the home photographer these lights are ideal. If that was all I used them for I would give them a 5.

I purchased these for use on a video interview. What I didn't realize is that the lights have fans that are required to run while in use. This created to much noise in the environment so I was unable to use them for the intended purpose. They would be great for photos, but I don't recommend for video if you want it quite. The setup and tear down isn't the simplest either. This wasn't a major for me, but putting the boxes together could have been easier.

Lights were surprisingly bright for LEDs. I must say that the quality of the craftsmanship was impressive, unlike some of the other sets I have seen. Even the stands were more sturdy than my others. Customer service was very nice and prompt. Rishi was a great help and even taught me about some of the settings on my Nikon. Great product + great customer service= 5 stars. Thanks Rishi.
