Actually use this for drilled holes. For a 10 dollar gauge it gets the job done.

I'm dropping a star because you can't use standard dial gauge tips. Other than that it has standard dial gauge mounting. Also as a depth gauge it has a wider base than a digital caliper, but is otherwise much the same. I bought it to attach to a thickness gauge ala a dial gauge and it was the most cost effective solution I could find!

In shopping for a tire tread gauge I choose this one for the wide base. It is good for checking my truck tires. I bought from Taylor Tools before and have confidence in their products.

Not suitable for measuring gaps between nozzle and bed in 3d printing. Spring tension is too strong, OK for tire treads, but pushes on printer extruder.

Use it on set of my 30 tonne press it greatfor set up of punches an does.

Got this to check tire tread depth. I was expecting something that would tell me the depth of my tire tread. It doesn't work for that. Well, if you don't mind subtracting the reading from the fully extended length you can, but not something I'm want to do. Displays inches to the out to three decimal places and mm out to two. Not really sure what this would be good for.

A good low cost tool that I can hand out to my customers to make sure they have the proper equipment to service my product.
