I have a few other, cheaper G-shocks in the $80 - $160US range, which are also Tough Solar + Multiband 6, but I wanted one final G-shock that was ultra rugged with a few more functions, and this watch fit my needs perfectly without going into the $1,000 range for a MT-G or MR-G model. $665US here is about the best price I've seen.In addition to top-notch ruggedness from the Mudmaster line, you get a sapphire crystal, plus the compass, baro, alt, temp, water resistance. All these functions, plus the crucial Multiband6 + Tough Solar makes this watch about the best quality/functionality bang for the buck from Casio.It's comfortable on the wrist and not too thick or heavy. Battery came with medium "M" charge, but leaving it near the window in direct sun for a few hours kicked the battery up into High "H" on the LCD screen. Multiband6 sync worked just fine by the window overnight and you can quickly move through the modes to see when the last successful sync took place (date/time).Cons: Every once in a while it pulls on my arm hair. The LCD isn't easy to read indoors in low light. The lume on the hands and indices doesn't appear to last as long as my other automatics with C3 Superluminova.Pros: Supremely rugged and amazing looks in person. Sapphire crystal is clear and noticeably different than lower G-shocks. LED light clearly lights the whole face. Build quality is very high, many features.

There are a plethora of watches from which to choose these days, and even among the Casio G-Shock line there are many options. I was looking for a G-Shock with both solar charging and atomic timekeeping, and this watch has both, and both work great. I was also looking for an analog watch with a digital display, and this watch has both, and both are easy to read. The LED light is powerful.This watch is rugged, good-looking, high quality, and not heavy. I have swum with it , so I can confirm its waterproofness, at least close to the surface.The one caveat is that this watch came with the non-English instruction manual, so I had to look up the English manual online. To me that is not a big deal, but be aware.

I waited for more than 6 months of daily use to write this review. I have travelled internationally with my Mudmaster.I will not bore you by repeating all of the positives of my incredible Casio that my others have noted.I will disagree for some...The Atomic Sync function works very well for me. It does help to orient the watch towards the North while off the wrist ( obviously ) ! But it has synced on my nightstand without any North orientation.The Illumination is excellent, not only in the absence of light, but in my garage with "dimmed" lighting and during dawn and dusk.I can tell the time without wearing my 3.0 reading glasses. This is not the case w/ almost all of my other watches, and I own a lot.The case with the Forged Carbon is beautiful to look at, impervious to damage.CON:The band near the face as the watch has developed a white cast ( within one of the grooves ). I have been unable to remove this "cast" from the band. No big deal. since it is not very visble to the naked eye.Casio has "hit it out the park" with this Mudmaster. I'm thrilled !!

This is really a step up aside from a little sacrifice of comfort as a daily watch, I can't say that the complexity of the design and functions is for everyone especially sense not all even enjoy quarts movements.If your looking for a watch that you wont care about then don't get this; it's a great watch whilst you can wear it like you don't care about it still weights over 100 grams mostly centered in one place witch is also complimented to the size of It as well. And while it can take a beating the dw6500 model can do all the same under 100 dollars and a smaller lighter package.This watch packs a punch with Many features I enjoy. Barometer, altimeter, and compass in that order are all things I enjoy. Yet all these things can be found without the g shock label that's sleeker and smaller that's almost have the price.The conclusion: they're are watches out in the wild that wear better and more casual that do the same as this one but we're they all fall short is the durability and appearance of this watch as well. It is a enjoyable watch on the wrist and some a great buy just remember to get another individual stand alone watch you're not afraid to wear at a job interview before getting this one imparticular.

Short story:The Apple watch Ultra can wait, don’t forget you need to charge it daily or two while you’re traveling the world or jungle, and fighting dragon/sea monster! Dude, Get the legendary Gshock first! This thing is tough/nice looking/don’t care about charging/changing battery.Long story:My previous Gshock master is 10 years old and never failed me!One time, I switched to Luminox watch and my Gshock was lying in the drawer for one year, I came back to it and it’s dead, since it’s dead I opened the case try to change the battery but it locked inside which surprised me, I can’t take it out.I thought it was dead dead, I was gonna take it to watch shop but it said on the manual, this thing is solar power* so I put the flashlight on its face for 10-15 mins, and it come back to life! which really impressed me!And here I am ordered a new Mudmaster from Japan, received today, very happy for the look/quality/performance, another 10years for me:) get it!
