Magazine arrived promptly and after getting used to how it worked inserted it into my G19. After pulling the slide back I was able to get the safety to engage and the lock to function properly.HOWEVER, the "10" round magazine only holds 8 rounds and the follower rides high and will lock back the slide with one round left in the mag. Therefore it's actually only a 7 round magazine. NOT OPTIMAL !!!Bad enough being restricted to only 10 rounds, but to find you only have 7 in an emergency isn't reassuring.Since I'm writing this up after just un-boxing the purchase I haven't gotten to the range with it for fire drills yet, and unfortunately I won't have time for two weeks due to business. However, if after range work the magazine fails in any way I will be returning it. Too bad, I really liked the idea and concept but it's not quite there.

Used on a smith revolver. Grip is solid and lock works as described. Glad I bought it. Will buy more.

THE PRODUCT: It’s a great product and works exactly as described, but the documentation is currently incomplete and misleading.FIRST, be aware that the installation instructions do not indicate how difficult it may to remove the original grip screw bushings. They are typically made of a softer metal than the tool you will use to remove them and will probably tear or deform. Additionally, they are usually installed with Loktite or may even be staked to prevent easy removal. The company has indicated they may include a replacement set of bushings with the product, but if you receive one that doesn’t include bushings, be sure and buy a replacement set so you can reinstall the original grips. (Don’t make up your mind yet. Be sure and read my comments about their customer service first.)SECOND, the instructions for locking and unlocking the device are incomplete. If you or someone else incorrectly enters the combination, any further attempts to unlock the device will fail unless you first push in the reset button. After that you can retry and if you enter the correct combination, it will open.THIRD, although answers here and on the SAF-T-LOK site indicate that you can change the combination, there are no instructions on how to do so.FOURTH, the 800 number shown on the instructions to call for assistance is some kind of bogus, ad-driven place that tries to sell you various products and services. You will never get to SAF-T-LOK. Call the number on their website if you want to talk to someone.FIFTH, as noted in other reviews, the device expands the width of the grip, so if you have small hands, this may be an issue.CUSTOMER SERVICE: Despite the problems above, SAF-T-LOK’s customer service has to be one of the best I have ever dealt with. I initially returned the product for a refund, explaining what the problem was with the grip screw bushings. They promptly issued a refund, but they also emailed me offering to fix the problem, and even called to discuss what they could do to make me reconsider. They were very concerned about the problem with the bushings and are working to make it easier to install the product, including the possibility of providing a replacement set. They even offered to install the product if I wanted to send my pistol to them. Such concern for a customer’s issues and their desire to improve are what drives me to say that if you have a problem with the product, call them, and I have no doubt they’ll go out of their way to help you.

Let me start by saying I am picky about my weapons. That said, the SAF-T-LOK arrived and I started to put it on.According to the directions I am supposed to remove the grips and the two bushing screws on the left side. That is where I got stopped. The bushing screws wouldn't budge. Not wanting to damage them I stopped and analyzed the situation. And stopped. While I was willing to try the lock, I wasn't willing to commit to replacing my bushing screws just for that.The other thing I noted, at this time, was the increased thickness on the left side grip. I hadn't accounted for that and didn't want to redo my grip. Also, there is a rubber connector on the grips that is just below the trigger guard. Like I said, I am picky. I LIKE my 1911 looking like it is. So, a no go. HOWEVER it looks like the device would work, the combination is easy to use and might do instead of a safe for a family with small kids.

This should be mandatory for all hand guns. It functions great and would prevent any accidental shooting if use correctly when not carrying or gun not under your control.

I received this for a Gen 4 Glock 17 a few days ago. Now that I have had a few days to work with it, I think that it will definitely do the job in terms of securing the clip and preventing unauthorized loading / unloading. With that being said, it does take a little while to get used to using the lock. I noticed when I was first trying to unlock the safety that I would end up point the gun at my lower body. Clearly I was handling this while it was unloaded, but the last thing I want to do is point a loaded weapon at myself, or someone else unintended, in an effort to secure / unlock the weapon. I did notice that after locking and unlocking the lock that I did become more comfortable with the device and was able to secure my weapon without posing a risk to myself.The lock / clip itself feels sturdy and is a tight fit for my gun. I am anxious to try loading / unloading the weapon at the range to see if I notice any change in the performance of the gun but expect that there will be none.My major concern with this, and it isn't any indication that the product does not work as intended, is that even with this clip in place, I would be nervous to leave a loaded weapon in a place easily accessible for an unauthorized individual. This might be more to my not fully understanding the fail safes included on the device, but the last thing I want is a loaded weapon that can be accessed by a child. For my purposes I will likely use the Saf T Lok to ensure that no one can load the weapon without my knowing, but doubt that I will use this while loaded. I think I would still prefer to use a safe to keep my gun secured.Update- 12/4/15- After using this a little bit more, my concerns have been alleviated a bit. So far I have been unable to unlock and fire a round with entering the combination. Not saying that it can't happen but so far it works as advertised. I still like the idea of a safe to hold a loaded firearm for quick access, but I think that is still related more to my experience than to the product itself.
